Not to my memory, most stuff there has tasted the same since the 90s as far as I can tell.

The fries are pretty good, but only if you get them fresh and hot, and they are pretty eager to pawn off old shitty fries on you, hoping you won't complain. I understand they used to make the fries with beef tallow back in the 80s, but that's before my time. People describe them as being a little soggy, so maybe not as nice texture, but that the flavor is said to have been great, and I can believe that.

Chicken nuggets are good, but again, that is if you get them nice and hot, and they will try to pawn off old ones on you. Unlike fries though, they hold up a bit better, so one which have sat on the heater for 20 minutes aren't inedible, but once or twice I've gotten a fucking nasty nugget or two which has clearly been sitting all goddamn day, and the texture is completely revolting.

Since McDonald's are cheap fucks, I think that the actual value lies in some of the simple items like these. The type of burger they are going for with their larger and 'fancier' ones I think just aren't properly doable on the budget they aim for, therefore, the simpler ones is what they do 'best.'
A Quarter Pounder or a pair of the small cheeseburgers are a superior alternative to the Big Mac. They aren't stellar, but they pull off something adequate with the less advanced composition, the Heinz ketchup, 'mustard,' diced onion, pickles, and the cheese, these simple toppings work together to lift up the otherwise bland patty and bun, add a side of fries which are actually fresh and hot, and it's pretty decent for fast food.

Naturally, a truly great hamburger won't come from McDonald's, you look for a nicer place or make your own at home. Disclaimer: I am not an American.

Yeah McDonald’s fries and nuggets are probably their best items for the money IMO. I rarely eat McDonald’s but when I do it’s usually after not eating the entire day, and it being there. So I will get like 20 nuggets with fries. In that application it’s delicious and amazing. especially if you are slightly drunk still after a night with friends. However I wouldn’t really go out of my way to eat McDonald’s typically.

I can imagine KFC getting worse, but mainly it's a quip about how Colonel Sanders himself, who infamously just, absolutely fucking LOATHED, with his entire being, borderline Giygas tier, what it became after he sold part of it.

He was known to show up at franchised restaurants and just commandeer the entire kitchen for himself to cook the food how he wanted it done, and at other points he'd show up and lead on clueless managers who thought this was gonna be such a PR opportunity, bringing in press and cameras, only for Sanders to spit out the food, throw it on the ground, and declare it trash garbage and how nobody should eat it.
By all accounts, his original recipe and method produced chicken which was nothing short of excellent, but it was time consuming and laborious, not suited for the fast food business model, so inherently I don't think he would have ever gotten results which would consistently satisfy him without radically changing the direction of the business.

The man really is one of those for the fucking history books, a wild and dedicated guy who was like nobody else and made a real mark. Everything about his life's story is incredibly fascinating and fun.
