I'm just going to call it the Playstation 1 (PS1) for short because the naming convention for all of it's successors was Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.
It's like calling the movie "Star Wars (1977)" "Star Wars" because that's what it was originally called in 1977. Even though every subsequent movie after it was numbered, and it was numbered in 1981. I'd rather just call it "Episode 4" or "A New Hope" just to avoid potential confusion.

Why should I care about what it used to be called or officially called when it was released? The common way to refer to it outside of /vr/ is PS1. Everybody I've ever known either calls it the Playstation, Playstation 1, or PS1 since the PS2 came out. There is no confusion by using this term. In fact, using PSX can mean a very specific device, which may have some confusion if I don't make it clear if I'm referring to that device or the normal console. I see very little reason to ever use PSX. PS1 just makes more sense. Being autistic for the sake of being autistic isn't healthy, anon.

The Series S/X things really pisses me off too. PlayStation had the PS4 Pro which makes sense. Its the PS4 but the Pro version. If you need a game or accessories, you need the PS4 one. With X Box its almost like two different consoles. Which it is, but for all intents and purposes it is one. Based on X Box One S/X it should be referred to generally as X Box Series. Before the PS2 we all called it Playstation. After the fact, we referred to it as the PS1. The term PSX was unknown to us, I never heard it until sometime after 2010, and I originally assumed it was some regional name.
More annoying is the Xbox, we sort of got used to "Xbox original" VS "the 360" but just "Xbox" was somewhat ambiguous for a few years until everyone stopped playing the original. People did call it the fat or huge, but that was honestly well after people stopped using them commonly.
