im 43% into AA. I like it a lot. recently got pulverizer 1 ending in last raven. the VR arena started kicking my ass. when i speak to people heavy weight mechs get no love.

Armored core 2 is the best by far. The arena and 2 player mode were just absolutely amazing. Doing missions to get money to upgrade your core to beat the next opponent in the arena. The perfect loop.

Because I decided I didn't like Armored Core in 2000 when it was 1/2 games I got with my ps2. Thank god for Timesplitters. Even went back to it after I became a Soulsfag and nope, still don't like it. I hope the next one is literally a Souls game with mechs, because that's the only kind of game From can make properly.

I've loved AC from the beginning, only ever played PS1 and PS2 titles. Now that I make my own money, gonna buy a PS5 just for AC6. Can't wait. I hope the OST is gonna be the bomb again. Shape Memory Alloy. People hating on AC are googoogaga dummies.

The controls are part of the fun! They're difficult for everyone, trust me.
The idea is that you're stepping into the cockpit of a mech having no clue what you're doing. The mech is bulky and terrible to control. You can't tell where you're being shot from and desperately trying to control this behemoth and get a grip. Similar to Evangelion's brutal and unprofessional fight scenes
That feeling when you finally eke out a win somehow is extremely gratifying. And it doesn't go away, even when you get better weapons and systems and more fluid with the controls.

But then the enemies get harder. My advice? Be a cheap bitch. The game gives you plenty of different awesome ways to do it.
My favorite is the flamethrower. Slow, with garbage range and no targetting, but a couple of seconds on your average mech will absolutely shred their armor points AND give them heat damage (similar to poisoning). Other people slot in a hailstorm of multi missles. Some slap a nuke cannon on their back, line up three shots, and cash in their check.
There's also many other technologies that can fuck with your opponent. Hit an enemy with an emp rocket and the dumbass tacticool fag who didn't slot rockets won't be able to target you with any of his weapons. Hoverlegs let you float on water.

Employing bitchmade strategies help you beat the later enemies. And it's still fun as fuck even when you trounce a low level arena opponent, because you distinctly remember losing to him 10+ times when you were a noob, and now you can style on him like an anime villain.
