Where are those clothes??? Obviously it is 12000 BC and it's cold and everything, but why in the actual game you still wear in that part of the game your casual clothes from 600/1000 AD and not that sick winter cloak depicted in the cover art? And why is there a Dinosaur in 12000BC fighting them? And why does Marle shoot fire?????

This cover art is a mess.

>> No.9726931

Because this artwork is based on one of the game prototypes that had this exactly scenario.

Technically the game would be the mess, since these pieces were made as inspirational "image boards" which the actual game built from.

It's upsetting and criminal there's no CT artbook, or Toriyama artbook containing the CT stuff.

Pre-digital Toriyama was the goat same goes for Shirrow, truly a shame.

Wrong. You're thinking of Yakra. The monster on the CT box art is actually Heckran, the monster that lives in the cave outside Melchior's house in 1000 AD.

Akira Toriyama here.
And I'd like to de-confirm something. No, I didn't draw the initial image based on a misconception about Arc Impulse based on that early screenshot of the game.
I had a full build of the game. I was well aware that Marle used ice, and not fire. But I disagreed. I do what I want. And when quality assurance tried to stop me, I gave them a good slap. "Don't tell me what to do, you lout" I said. And then I pushed him down the stairs as he was leaving. Was that called for? I don't care, I do what I want.
Btw Frog sucks. I drew him weak because he sucks. Look at him there in the snow. Pathetic. Crono is cool. He's the only one who can defeat the Heckran, and Frog can go kick rocks.

What city is that in OPs background? Snow implies 12k BC, but city looks like 600 AD.

It seems like a generic Toriyama domed city, he tends to do those because they look whimsical and are harder to fuck up when drawing freehand

The only domed buildings in CT are in Zeal and in the future iirc

It's probably a good thing. One of CT's perks is that it doesn't really overstay it's welcome too much and is very compact for a JRPG.

Still, I wish we could have a remake of a game that actually adds in cut beta content someday

I hsve played it a lot, endgame content should have been more complex, when you finally have full freedom all you have are small side quests

there are a lot of instances of cover art not being accurate to the game. remember the one with the farmer dude playing a banjo? absolutely iconic.

What the hell? You can't just be, like, creative and add shit. Cover art HAS to be literally a 1 to 1 representation of the game. Same for movies and books and everything else. You CAN'T be creative and weird like this. Fucking shit...

But the op wasn’t created as cover art, it was an inspirational/promo piece they repurposef. Like with Final Fantasy western releases, Square tended to consider minimalism unmarketable outside Japan. Though the CT cover wasn’t even THAT minimalistic
