Ffs anon, the entire point of the Claw design was to allow two handling modes minimizing the redundancy of two controllers. This "design" actually relies on fucking duplicating 75% of what BOTH modes use.

Same as this one.
>This "design" actually relies on fucking duplicating 75% of what BOTH modes use.
No, this design is better because your thumbs would easily be able to reach all the 6 face buttons and both the d-pad and analog stick without changing your grip. Only 2 of the 4 shoulder buttons would be hard to reach.

Your idea sucks though, how do you do add the handles for ergonomics sake?
Doing that would make your design even bulkier and shittier than it already is. I bet your uncle worked for Sega in the 90s.

It also makes literally no sense that you're fine with reaching down to the bottom of the pad for the control stick, yet obviously thought a redesign from the standard Xbox control format was necessary.

The soft plastic bowl with no lube is the only problem, the stick itself is incredible overall. The optical sensors make it precise as fuck and completely deadzone-free. Just get a metal replacement bowl and lube it, that fixes 100% of the problems with the controller. But anyway, no one is complaining about the bowl wearing out, they're always complaining about "muh 3 hands" and whatever the fuck.

Too many redundant buttons that are only used half the time. The N64 controller has the same two modes: left hand on d-pad or left hand on stick, but it still has the same 6 face buttons and R button you would use with either mode. OP's controller has 4 face buttons and an R button for one mode and 4 completely separate face buttons and R button for the other mode, which is just pure inefficiency in design and manufacturing. you're building 2 completely separate and complete controllers and then just putting them in the same housing.

LMAO no fuck out of here. The Hori pad mostly gets it right. Just make it like the 360 pad but without a right stick and the six face buttons. There you pretty much have the N64 controller. Would have been a lot better of a console if it had a C stick though.

>> No.9729483

First off, most Nintendo 64 games were designed with their controller design in mind.

So having the d-pad in that position doesn't really help.

the worst part is that either configuration makes some aspect of the buttons unusable. like there's nothing worse than having to reach over other buttons to use something. which is why most controllers will have button groups at an angle to each other.

hell this design ideal is part of why the Joy-Cons are terribly designed.

>> No.9729507

This looks hellish to control and play with. Also people are still whining about the n64 controller? They realize that you're not supposed to be using all the buttons for every game, right? That it's made so you can hold it in two different ways...right?

>> No.9729513

I think it's because at first people didn't grasp that you were supposed to either be using the dpad and the stick not both at the same time and then it kind of jus became a meme.

>Too many redundant buttons that are only used half the time
You're describing the original N64 controller.
>The N64 controller has the same two modes: left hand on d-pad or left hand on stick, but it still has the same 6 face buttons and R button you would use with either mode.
It has a third mode, right hand on the analog stick, and in that mode the A and B are barely reachable and you're losing the entire c buttons. This would be an improvement, you're only losing two shoulder buttons in separate modes.
>OP's controller has 4 face buttons and an R button for one mode and 4 completely separate face buttons and R button for the other mode, which is just pure inefficiency in design and manufacturing.
But there's no reason all those 8 face buttons aren't usable in flipped mode though?

>>9729507
>They realize that you're not supposed to be using all the buttons for every game, right?
