Come one, even fucking Reddit has the courtesy of posting a fucking video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnJsn4ZVxGo
It looks quite hastily made, especially that the music is garbage. Obviously 3x3 isn't very interesting, but there's a 4x4 mode. Probably as easily exploitable I imagine

There’s not much known.
The only known specific copy was owned by one of the Nintendoage power cabal mods who of course would never release a rom of it. They sold it to some point to someone who got it WATA graded.
Yesterday someone joined some game preservation discord (not part of that shit kek), posted a rom of it and quickly left the group right after posting it.
Presumed the person who got it Wata graded ripped it before doing so

I'm pretty sure a shitload of indie games have disappeared forever in the past few years and nobody gave a single fuck, only a small portion of them gets cracked and preserved. Tic tac fucking toe

What a pile of crap. That curvy look is so stupid. Surely it would have been easy to throw together at least a Mode 7 thing if you really thought you needed some crude 3D graphics gimmick. God damn, how amazingly pointless and counterproductive that choice was. What kind of an idiot stylizes the appearance of THIS game so much as to make it mildly difficult to play?

>> No.9699881

>>9699135
Human nature, I guess. Just like how you can still scoop up physical copies of games from the past decade for pennies but people go apeshit over things from 20+ years ago. In the future people will be tripping over themselves trying to find and "preserve" these dime a dozen indie games from today too.

It was The Cutting Room Floor Discord.

anonfiles()com/l1edP8a0zf/

(Use BSNES or a similarly capable emulator, SNES9x just freezes on a set of glitched tiles)

Everyone dismissing it as “just” a tic-tac-toe game is missing the point. The development staff listed in the credits suggests it was the first project developed by Nintendo Software Technologies, of Mario vs Donkey Kong fame.

In fact, it seems decently likely the person that leaked it was a former staff member there. As it was stored in an ancient LZH archive, and this year is the 25th anniversary of the studio.

I know the feeling, but entropy is a bitch and it gets everything eventually. People just care about this because it's something to do with Nintendo. If it was something else then nobody would give two shits. Also people want old shit because they want what they do not already have.

I don't get people who say things which imply "you wasted time preserving this but not this other thing?" Most of this shit is just taking what's given, or getting lucky. Like the reason we don't yet have an early build of Link to the Past isn't because people are getting distracted by Noughts and Crosses, or if those damn preservationists just put in enough man hours we'd have the Space World build of Mario 64 -- 99% of this stuff there are zero meaningful leads, and it's just people waiting for shit to show up on the secondhand market. When there are actual leads that effort and research might help with, most of the time it's going to be third-rate western developed titles that most whiners don't care about anyway, or convincing (read: paying) a collector to part with something.

>> No.9705415

>>9705398
Also, there's nothing stopping people who care from preserving modern indie games. Most of the preservation groups that publicly share things are nothing inherently special, most are just loose associations of (unpaid) collectors who dump things they themselves own, or that others donate for release.

>> No.9705552

>>9699135
>>9705398
>>9705415
I think a big part of the problem is legal issues. Dumping and sharing 20-30+ year old games is called "preservation," but dumping and sharing 0-5 year old games is called "piracy." So naturally people don't make very public attempts at preservation and archival until you cross the point where the copyright holders won't get so pissy about it.
