What are the best anime license games from 3rd-5th gen? Starting with one obvious pick for SNES.

PS1 Hokuto no Ken. Also not anime, but licensed from a TV show - Kamen Rider fighting games on PS1 have no right to look and play so smooth.

Endless Duel is possibly the best console exclusive fighter. Also Power Rangers Fighting Edition which ED was based upon.
My personal favorite is Super Butoden 2, and 3 as well (though lack of story mode sucks).
Yu Yu Hakusho on Mega Drive is also very good, and I second the SFC Sailor Moon games are pretty good too.

Wow, thank you for posting this, it brought back lots of memories I’d almost let slip away. My friends and I used to play endless duel at middle school in the early 2000s. Had snes9x loaded onto a few computers around the school (library, computer lab) and used to play versus using the same keyboard. Same with dbz hyper dimension. We had a great time until a few guys got busted trying to do StarCraft LAN over the school intranet; boomer teachers/aides always patrolled around the computers after that. Anyway, thanks for reading my blog.

Pic related also has great production values.

This game is based on the second movie, which if the release dates are correct, hadn't been out yet when the game released.

This blows my mind, but the release dates online might be wrong (it happens more often than you think)

Battle Assault 1 + 2 no contest. To this day I’ve never played a better anime game.
I am blessed to have been alive when Gundam was on toonami and Bandai was localizing tons of games. That was the golden era of Gundam in the USA

You will never ever know the kino of having 0079 and Wing on toonami and Stardust Memory on adult swim…and then you get games with the same voice actors.

If you loved it, it has a spiritual successor as Bleach DS by the same dev team.
>I second the SFC Sailor Moon games are pretty good too
Didn't like the beat em up, but there's a remixed version on the Mega Drive that's NOT the same game (kinda like TMNT Turtles in Time (SFC) vs TMNT Hyperstone Heist (MD))

>>9625568
All three are fan translated (badly) if you know where to look.
The fun thing about those is that the first one adapted the entire story, and the other two continued past where the manga stopped. I have a thing for licensed games that add to the source material, and these are good as games too.

Little Nemo on Arcades and NES (two separate games, both good) are this way as well.

>>9627569
Same dev did Papuwa on SNES, also a good game in general but doesn't top Hamelin's Violence-ist.

I still never played the SFC beat 'em ups, only the fighting games, but I want to try them, especially R, looks comfy from screenshots. But! yes, SM on Mega Drive was one of my favorite games from childhood. Love the art direction and especially the music in it by Aki Hata. Also, I think the devs of that game were called Ma-Be, but I somehow remember reading some of them also worked on Streets of Rage... not sure if this is true or where I read that though.
