Just cleared out my attic, found all this.

It's fucking happening.

Current N64 controller is dead, so looking to get another. Should I just get a used official one, or look for a better third party one (with a better stick, for starters)?

>> No.961019

Another N64 thread? Really?

>PAL 50 hurts

The Rare games will run OK I guess, but throw the others in the trash because they are useless.

you can buy replacement sticks for the official ones which make it more like a gamecube controller. I say just pick up a cheap official controller. or you could get one of those new wireless 3rd party ones that just came out.

oh fuck off. if you're from Europe it's not like you've ever known any better

Yeah, if you don't care that your games run like slug I guess you won't care about your stick having input lag and wrong sensitivity either. Whatever.

Honestly, as bad as N64 emulation is, I'd rather emulate than play PAL shit.

Oh and I am European.

PAL Turok runs at full speed, but with borders.
PAL Rayman 2 runs full speed and full screen.
PAL Zeldas (both OoT and MM) run full screen but not full speed.

Get a Hori N64 mini controller, theyre kinda expensive though.

N64 cannot have enough threads.
I love this damn thing so much...

I love finding old stuff that I forgot I even had. Just in my closet alone I found a boxed Saturn and a whole bunch of games, and I don't even remember putting the Saturn in there. I've definitely used it before, but the box is in perfect condition.

I've always had very good memory, and it makes me kind of sad that I don't have these moments.

>every Nintendo kid has the exact same 6-10 N64 games.

Hey they are great games, don't get me wrong, but...there is a strength in numbers and variety.

N64 and Playstation were both great consoles. Stop trying to start shit.

Out of OP's I have Mario Kart and Banjo-Kazooie. That's it, then about 30 others. Stop generalising.

CD DISC ERROR
I loved it back then. I wanted a N64, my dad got me this instead.
Glorious memories, especially when i really wanted to play SM64 or SSB64.

You can fix a dead thumbstick with a bit of epoxy.

When you disassemble an 64 controller and its thumbstick module, you'll find that everything sort of sits in a white plastic cup. The base of the stick rides along the surface of that cup.

Problem is, the cup is made of soft plastic and the stick grinds it down over time. Once the cup loses too much material, the spring can't keep enough tension on the stick and it becomes loose.

Put some gouges or drill holes into that cup to give the epoxy something to hold on to and then pour a little in there, making sure to block any holes you may have made with tape from the outside so the epoxy doesn't just flow out. Try not to overdo it. You can always add more epoxy later, but removing excess is a huge pain even with a dremel.

Let it set and close up the module to test the stick. Once satisfied, put some lithium grease in there for lubrication.

The sticks shipped dry originally, and this is one of the reasons they wear down like they do.

Our 64 collected dust most of the time. We played the Saturn more than that thing.

Deal with it mr. Cynical.

What's with the black label on the Zelda cart?
