>> No.957129

The Beretta 92F series has a double action trigger pull, and then becomes single action for reasons obvious to any automatic pistol owner. SAO versions were released well after Metal Gear was developed.

For those not in the know, double action means that the trigger pulls the hammer back (if the hammer is not already cocked), and also releases the hammer. When the gun is fired, the slide moves back, absorbing a lot of the recoil, and loading the next cartridge from the top of the magazine, into the chamber. The hammer is pushed back in this process, and locks in firing position. Subsequent trigger pulls will release the hammer, firing the weapon until all ammunition has been expended.

Single action only means that you have to rack the slide, or otherwise cock the hammer back before firing the first time.

To carry a pistol "cocked and locked" means to have a round in the chamber, the hammer cocked back, and the safety engaged. This is dangerous if you're a clumsy retard, but optimal if you have need of using your weapon quickly.

It's actually a pretty kick-ass guide. Nintendo used to make great guides for it's games, and this one is no exception. It gives you stamp palettes to make pixel art of different video game characters, gives you tips on how to best use certain drawing tools, and has something of an art gallery in the back from Nintendo staff and Nintendo Power readers that sent in their drawings.

That thing was god tier, a perfect clone of Nintendo's controller & build quality so much to the point that if you took it apart, the cable attached using the same plugin connector. All you had to do was switch the cord with the Nintendo cord and the only thing wrong with it [too short] was fixed.

Damn shame, how every 3rdparty controller brand turned to shit when PlayStation debuted. The 16bit era had some truly great 3rdparty controllers, but the ASCiipad was king.

I vaguely remembered playing a game designed to be able to be played by blind people. You could walk around in a seemingly 3D environment, with the catch being that you had to play by listening. There were many ambient noises that would get louder or quieter as you moved around, letting you get a sense of the shape of your environment. I wish I could remember the name, because it was interesting.

I know I ask this a lot, but I'm just trying my luck.
I'm looking for an ad for RE or RE: Director's Cut that would have run in gaming mags from the UK.

It's an overhead shot of a bathtub full of blood on a checkered floor with bloody footprints leading away from the tub.

Allegedly there's lots of controversy around the ad and it's banned or something. Anyone seen it?

At this point I'd be happy if someone else could just say they've seen the ad in question before.
I've been trying to find it again for such a long time that it almost feels like I imagined it.

Think a little, it's not that cut & dry. Many American children at that point in time hadn't grown up with basic RPGs like Japanese kids, so they created a starter RPG for them on a current system. They wanted to build up the market. This wasn't a game for teenagers.

Plus I guarantee it was an American company that created that ad campaign.

You got me there, whoever wrote it probably went overboard and was too blunt. But I am still surprised by the "starter jrpg" part when square rpgs were trivial even for kids (or at least that was my experience with them).

Some people who have used it will say yes, as well as everyone who has never actually used one (because hey, why not play make believe on the internet). I used one extensively during the SNES era and I will tell you from actual experience that it was inferior to an original US SNES controller. The shoulder buttons are too thin, the hinges on them were too fragile (and one of them was actually broken because of that), and the angled top is uncomfortable compared to the straight original. And of course, it lacked the concave X and Y.

Turbo buttons just wasn't worth it at all.

Yes it actually did.
It got beaten by Nintendo's Gameboy and the allot of Game Gear's have dead capacitors by now.
And the only issues with the Gameboy are dirty contacts (like any other cartridge based system) and a few dry solder joints in the dot-matrix screen (missing columns, doesn't affect gameplay that much and it's fixable).
