Not him but I've ended up with multiple copies of games/consoles just as happenstance and I don't feel like going through the effort of selling extras. For instance I already owned sonic 3 but never the S&K lock-on cart, but when I stumbled up on a cheap S&K cart it was bundled with S3, so now I have two S3s. Especially when buying bulk lots.

Non-plastic hoarding, specific titles/platform collector reporting in. I am SO GLAD that I made a few purchases back in 2018, long before the pandemic, long before prices went full tard. Tbh I don't think I'll go back to collecting anything any time soon considering the prices being practised the past few years. The neckbearded soibois are the target demographic of retro collecting now and they're willing to pay scalper prices.

The whole COVID thing really fucked up the market, prices are ridiculous nowadays. You're better off modding your consoles and spending your money on cool controllers, accessories and other shit like that. Or just emulate. There's so many adapters allowing you to connect old gamepads to modern PCs nowadays, cost next to nothing too. Get yourself a nice classic controller, connect that desktop to your TV set, boom - vidya time. If it makes you feel any better, I was retarded enough to move to a different country with a CRT. Paid more to move it than what I bought it for.

Still chugging along. It got really cluttered recently because I was just throwing shit in the closet without doing any proper organizing but I'm getting close to how it was before. Honestly, I'm about to cash out most of my software collection. I made the absolute full retard mistake of buying Limited Run Games and Strictly Limited Games compilations and nugames and they're largely a waste of space. At this point I think I'm going to migrate only to having original consoles, their boxes, and a couple of games for each so long as they cover one of the following franchises:
Diablo (D1 is my favorite game ever; I have a copy of Hellfire I got as a kid as well)
Shin Megami Tensei (Already have fuckin' Jack Bros, still need to rebuy Persona PSP and find a Junpei hat for maximum autism)
Kunio Kun (Mostly the new releases and compilations since my wife got me a couple)
Ninja Gaiden (Xbox era and into /v/ territory as well but they're solid games)
Panzer Dragoon (Got II and Saga in a massive lot a decade ago; sold the first and guess I could rebuy it if I really care)
For my vintage computer collection I'm keeping it to the following:
Wizardry (Shin Megami Tensei is spiritually derived from these)
Ultima (Cool for what they are)
Postal (Pure absurdity)
I've got some other odd stuff too but I think most of it is going to have to go. I'm keeping Liberty or Death. It's got a sweet poster.

Oh nonononono fren, absolutely not. I am a veteran of the one-day convention sales market. That's where most of my churn has gone over the years. Even used Amazon for a while. This whole $600+ of sales thing has made that really messy to the point where the only things I would reasonably want to sell are things where I have a receipt and the market value is less than what I paid. At least then I can get some sort of capital loss writeoff (which I have a carry-forward coming due to recent market trends, goddamn).

That's some serious goddamn shit. The one I frequented yearly had a long line to get in but had phenomenal prices and stock. Suddenly ACVI was announced and every motherfucking Ebay jew was jacking up prices like these were the rarest shit ever, AC2 Another Age which by most accounts mediocre and was trending at 20$ at most was going for 80$ Disk only! AC3 and it sequels/expansions was going for 25-35 CIB now go for 110$ at the lowest, Silent Line the most popular of the PS2 era was going for 180$! The fuck? These were extremely niche games with a passable localization by Agetech who were making a lot of shit up according to a guy who worked on these games (see AC2 review and subsequent interview with the guy who worked on the localization at We Review Every PS2 Game Oh God channel on YouTube).
