What is the best Yu-Gi-Oh! game for GBA?

>> No.9541143

>>9541114
I'd still say Sacred Cards. It's the only one that doesn't have the annoyingly animated background during the card battles. The story is literally just the second season with the same characters and charm, so it's nostalgic for fans but also a good starting point for people who only remember the first season. The card game itself plays kinda close to the real card game except with an element gimmick, which just makes it more accessible. Probably also has better UI and menu fiddling than the others

My onle big gripe with it is that the progression can be quite cryptic, like having to talk to some literal random NPC again so he tells you something about a place and only then the story thing can happen there

World Champs '06, if you're interested in the TCG proper.

Yep, champ 06 is the best of the bunch. I think the only annoying thing in that game is having to grind a lot to get enough money to start building a decent deck; however, i like more the UI from GX duel academy

Literally every non-retro WC entry is better so I don't see the reason to play 06 unless you play retro games for the sake of playing retro games

Didn't feel particularly easier than the other YGO games I played and short isn't necessarily bad, can also mean a game is just fast with great pacing

06 has THE BEST duel puzzles ever, they're really challenging but also very fair. I finally beat all of them on my last playthrough and it was one of the most satisfying and pleasurable experiences I've ever had in a Yu-gi-oh game.
The formats included are a greatest hits collection of early Yu-gi-oh. GOAT format and lots of other classics.
The Japanese version, Expert 2006, is the last uncensored WC game, and it has an English language option.
The soundtrack is fantastic, my personal favorite of the franchise.
I really like the SWHUP sound when something gets banished.
And it was one of my favorite games when I was a kid.
Those are my reasons.

I wouldn't say there is a best one, OP. All of them are quite different from one another, so it really depends on what you're looking for. I think the 1st distinction that needs to be made is between the installments that follow the official rules, like all of the WC installments, alongside EDS and SDD, and the ones that follow the old GB/GBC rules like Sacred Cards and Reshef of Destruction. If we go for the latter, the main difference between them is difficulty, if you want something smooth, go for Sacred Cards, if you want to tear your hair out, go for Reshef of Destruction, either way both of them have an open map you can explore, kind of like Pokémon, but on a smaller scale. Now, for the installments that follow the rules, if you want an open map like in the installments I've mentioned, go for WC2005:7 Trials of Glory, but if you want a bunch of duels one after another without much in between, go for EDS, WC2004 or WC2006, SDD has an attempt at making the Battle City story, and GX Duel Academy is more open, but navigation is through menus. Overall it also depends on what era of Yu-Gi-Oh! you're more into, the original or GX, and what time frames within those eras you prefer, with different ban lists and stuff.

WC 2006 is the one I played the most. Got really fucking addicted to it since I finally had the opportunity to actually fucking play the card game unlike everyone else I know who just collected them. Real shame it was less of a card RPG and just a battle simulator though.

Really depends on what you actually want from a Yugioh game. If you want the actual card game then WC06.

If you still want to play the card game with a more story-based experience (I'm using that term lightly here) then either GX Duel Academy or Stairway to the Destined Duel.

If you want a more traditional card game RPG then Sacred Cards. If you just want the Yugioh characters without having to play Yugioh then there's Destiny Board Traveler and Dungeon Dice Monsters.

Objectively WC06 is probably the best *Yugioh* game, but again it just depends on what you want.

in the case of yugioh the TCG went full retard with power creep and has never really recovered from it. hence why people want to go back to a time when the meta wasn't completely fucked.

at the same time you also had variations of the game that were significantly more interesting than the actual TCG like DDM, duelist of the roses & capsule monsters.
