Faster weapon switching definitely would have made the shotgun/double barrel more viable in the later parts of the game. But those are the only two weapons that drop off in my opinion. SS4/SM definitely gives them more purpose with dual wielding and the underbarrel grenade launcher for the single shotgun.
For anyone uninformed giving shotguns a grenade launcher secondary fire is the best thing you can do. Please do it more often the two weapons go so well together.

Siberian Mayhem got a really stellar update recently man. It adds a NG+ mode if you have beaten the campaign before, and it starts you off with all your weapons and gadgets from when you last finished the game, as well as your upgrades. BUT there's a bonus. All subsequent skill points you attain can be used to upgrade the damage of any weapon you choose up to three times. DOOM came so very close to the first one. They could have given the pistol perfect accuracy and given a damage boost so every shot does the equivalent of two chaingun rounds, this would give it the functionality of a long range sniper weapon but not overpowered. I would also remove the chainguns perfect accuracy of its first two shots. To balance out the shotgun/super shotgun I would make shotgun ammo way more scarce so having to choose between power and conserving ammo is an actual choice, as it stands in the base game I can just unload a super shotgun blast on lone pistol zombie and not care at all.

For the energy weapons I would bump up the BFGs ammo consumption to 75 or 100 per blast because I never felt the need to use the plasma rifle once I had the BFG as the ammo saved was insignificant especially compared the the time to kill difference between the two. Rocket launcher is perfect as is but it always bothered me that rockets were the only weapon type that only had one weapon, I would add a grenade launcher. A flamethrower would also be nice for damage over time, a nice contrast to the BFG where you have to be looking at the enemy to damage them. For a second flame weapon I would add a three round burst fire flaming stake gun whose bullets would stick into the enemy then explode after a few seconds similar to the needler from halo.

For some odd reason doom WADS spook the fuck out of me more than most other games. The sound design coupled wit the low animation frames always manages to freak me out and I'm sick of this. I just want to finish ashes 2063 since its one of the best games ever made but I always end up jumping and eating too much damage so I have to save scum. legitimately how do I get rid of this retardation? As fun as drama is, the reason it's late is because, up until earlier this year, it was basically just me (WME), Eggplant and Lunch mapping for it, then Eggplant & Lunch ran out of ideas and/or motivation. That's not meant as a knock against them, just what happened - it happens to all of us.

Anyway, I (perhaps selfishly) decided to get the project up to four maps per episode singlehandedly (except for a contribution by Bartekmil that he worked on during that time as well) rather than release it as it was, and I did that despite having way too much else going on in my life to dedicate much time to it, so it took the rest of this year to finish the remaining maps.

BFG also is perfectly ammo-efficient on the first shot, dealing exactly 2400 damage for 60 cells (40 per cell). Technically the plasmagun can deal 12, 24, 36, or 48 damage per shot, which averages out to 30 per shot, but you can break it down much more efficiently because one trigger pull is one cell and you don't need to shoot 60 at once. Also if you get lucky you get higher efficiencies, sometimes exceeding the BFG, but not often.
When talking about multiple targets, the BFG loses damage because it splits it damage into groups of 60 (up to 40 projectiles, each dealing Nd60 damage calculated to either kill their target or use up as much of the remaining damage as possible), so anything with health that isn't a multiple of 60 ends up wasting a bit of ammo. Basically the whole cell "economy" is a bit more even for the PG if you aren't trying to explode whole rooms at once. Similar thing with the chaingun where it always hits 15 but the other bullet weapons have slightly different numbers based on role. If you can manage the CG's absurd fire rate you can reach ammo efficiencies that are second only to the pistol's hypothetical max, but it's really inaccurate and you will waste ammo in some cases so it balances out with the SMG which is highly accurate and fires easily controllable bursts.

The alt-fire of the flare gun is super underrated. It's like the equivalent of being able to shoot a rocket out of the doom pistol for 10 ammo. If you come upon a group of enemies let one of those fly, great way to conserve rocket ammo if you're low and you get a similar outcome. Also I think the cultists have a 100% or close to it stun chance if they get hit, so the tommy gun is extremely good against them due to its high fire rate. I remember the plasma gun being great against the hellhounds, was my go to weapon against that enemy type every time.

Blood is a fantastic FPS once you take the time to understand as much as you can about it (like how jumping and crouching makes hitscanners less accurate, or how you should be bouncing explosives around every suspicious corner, they give you tons of dynamite ammo for a reason). I'm a month late on this so slowpoke.jpg, but the Marathon source port Aleph One FINALLY fixed their mouse support by removing the negative acceleration by default. It also has an option for raw mouse input, 60 fps+ (interpolated), an FOV slider and hotkeys for weapons. I'm so happy, I avoided this game for years because of these issues and they're finally gone.

That's not too bad of a sprite in itself, but the issue remains of the Chaingunner's appearance as a function of gameplay. His silhouette being too similar to the other zombiemen makes him less easy to identify at a glance or in the dark, and wearing dark brown together with his yet darker complexion, he's going to blend in more in the dark and especially against dark brown textures.

Taking an actual look at the Chaingun Commando, he's noticeably bigger than the other zombies at a glance, carrying a big weapon which is very visibly different at a distance, and his armor is also a darkish red with a harness or strap going across his chest, supporting some sort of ammo pack on his back, which is feeding a belt of linked ammunition to his gun, and that's in addition to his darker skintone and beard.
For his similarities to the other guys, you won't mistake him for the others, and I think that's pretty important considering that this is typically one of the more dangerous enemies in the game, and we're overall sticking to core gameplay.

Overall it seems to be a very solid and well-crafted megawad inspired heavily by Scythe 1, the first few levels feel a bit too easy, but it's understandable since it's the beginning and not every level has to be equivalent to a CBT session. The wad really gets going at map 08 and further, so I'm excited to finish the rest of it. Huge recommend if you like short action-packed levels.

Functionally that's about what I expected, just a minor complication driving across them.
Visually I think the fact that they're just 4 conveyor belts running into each other could be somewhat hidden if they were given just a solid gray top, and the sides scrolled / visibly animated instead.

I've been sick all week but I got some more tweaks I'd like to do for GMOTA. Now whiffing the powered sword doesn't consume MP, and hitting shit with the thrown sword gives a big chunk back, and you get even more once you get the throw upgrade.
I've had some people complain about the fists being underwhelming so I'm currently trying out giving the fists autofire. I'm not quite 100% on it, I actually might try making punching be a burst fire attack: As in you click once, rapidly throw three punches, and then an uppercut. Like the Kaiser Knuckle from Aria of Sorrow. Because I'm already noticing some annoying shit with holding fire here. There's been a few times I've thrown my sword again when I didn't want to, and you can see here I wind up decking a living armor shortly after stunning it with the uppercut.

I'm also going to let the player throw the powered sword very soon, it'll work kinda like the old rocket sword with the same quirks: Powerful splash damage but the sword just straight up vanishes. Along with all this shit, I'm also going to try navigating around Zandronum's aggravating limitations to make it so you can snatch the sword with the chain, and the stun overload upgrade is going to get changed from a damaging explosion to a stun AOE burst like the boomerang, but it'll still deal extra damage to whatever stunned monster you shot.

And, what virtually never gets talked about outside of the TF2 community here, the variation on the subclasses completely changing the attack styles. "How do you play Demoman on slot 3 vs slot 4 of your loadouts?" is a better question about who you main in TF2, because TF2 actually does have fighting game combos. Archery sniper and Sniper are different. Pyro can blast jump. Heavy can take on heavier or lighter weight weapons... There's so much variation that maining one role in one class sometimes doesn't help your team whatsoever.

All in all we got 9 submissions: an MBF21 dehacked showcase (21Reloading), a script for Zandronum servers (BFGLESS_START), a GZDoom weapon mod (bifgug), 2 vanilla maps (deathmap, vrbday2022), a ZDoom episode (DREAD), an Odamex horde mode mapset (punch_horde_test), and 2 Boom gimmick maps (skillmap, weaponsfactory).
Thank you to those who submitted, and for such a diverse set of content. I didn't really know what to expect when I started this project but I think the basic idea I had was fulfilled. I hope that you have fun with or find some use for these submissions.

Now for next year. I don't really have any plans. If I run this project again it would need a different rule set, something that more people would want to contribute to while still allowing the freedom that I want contributors to have. Probably something more restrictive, /vr/ seems to work best under restriction. Something like the older Doomworld Mega Project or the current Maximum Project, where you can only make maps that then get compiled into several wads based on compatibility level. Whatever happens I hope to see you there, thank you all for a great year.

You could fix 60% of it's issues with colored keys and doors, and larger key sprites. Then just unfuck the autoaim a little. The rest is level design stuff that's easily routed. Sewer level is shit. considering adding a system to an FPS game where players can choose 3 out of 6 classes, each with 2 unique weapons or abilities, at the beginning of each level. The classes and their corresponding weapons or abilities can be upgraded based on experience gained or randomly at the end of each level. i had a few geometry clipping issues with NotBlood(i assume it's the same with NBlood), mostly just visual but i went through the floor under the blood puddle reflection trick in this map(a small corner of the puddle can be slipped through).

nah i got them in software rendering but there's not many of them i was just worried i didn't launch/run it properly.
i didn't see them in GDX playthroughs, but GDX seems to fix some engine behaviors such as the flat lads seen here>>9534150 anyway which i don't remember triggering.
