Alright /vr/, it is that time of year again. Last year may have been a failure but I think I have made some improvements to the content of the card this time around. Less about the collection and more about playing some games. Post with timestamps.

Beat sonic 1-3&K plus a couple rom hacks

Also beat SoR 1&2, halfway through 3 (us ver) and Golden Axe 1&2.

Been a pretty good retro gaming year. Thinking about playing FFIX next and making it the first retro jrpg I beat.

Just this year I have beaten about 28 of those. That's only counting classic turned based ones, if we include A-RPGs or other hybrid genres (adventure + rpg (pic related), card + rpg, etc) you can count +20. And I'm not finished, since I broke my right hand + I have time, I'm sticking to turned based stuff I can play one handed. Currently playing a hybrid fishing-RPG Legend of the River King on NES

Probably like the last 10 games released for the console. Time isn't always a good indicator, since you get stuff like the PS2 where it stopped being supported in 2011, but there were still like two games that came out in 2013. (or for an extreme example, Just Dance games kept coming out on the Wii until fucking 2019).

the latter is fine, but I think the OP struck a fun balance between the two, makes both sides feel more involved

not all that much, my gdemu has the issue where the struts holding the board up are fucky so sometimes I gotta reseat it, and there's something with it using too hot a voltage that I can't remember the specifics of that can make it shit itself from the heat. some people solder in a fake load in the form of a bundle of resistors, some people pop out a voltage regulator, I went with the latter because after moving I don't recall where I packed all my electronic bits

In the end I think I opened it up, cleaned the dust out and moved the board a bit before putting it back together, never had a problem until the disc drive stopped reading stuff in 4 years later, replaced that DC with a GDEmu and it's been fine since.
