I had fun with it at the time. Worth the rental.

I've played the Xbox version in my childhood and remember having a blast with it. Does it still hold up? It's probably been 17 years since I've last played it.

It's slop. Plays and looks worse than Max Payne despite releasing later and targetting better hardware. Anything Matrix beyond the first film and Animatrix is also bad.

It's obvious the game was rushed in development to meet the Matrix Reloaded theatrical release, and it shows.

This is my pick for bad game that I still enjoy.

yea, I remember seeing a behind-the-scenes preview before release and they recorded alternate dialogue takes so that each playthrough would be different

When I bought the game this feature was not there.

really boring and repetitive, shitty levels, graphics aren't good, cutscenes were pretty cool

>Anything Matrix beyond the first film and Animatrix is also bad

I unironically enjoy the sequels and didn't hate Path of Neo either though I admit they're all deeply flawed. The sequels have high highs but deteriorate into cringy b-tier sci-fi far too often which the 1st movie managed not to do and

Path of Neo should have been the tie-in game to begin with. Making a game based around fucking Niobe instead of the star of the film with all the cool powers was retarded, it's like if they released a Spider-Man game where you played as Mary Jane. I Know that the idea was to supplement the main story but people don't buy tie-in games for deep lore and side characters, they want to play through the favorite parts of the movie. There was no part of Enter the Matrix when I thought "wow, I'm glad we got to see what Niobe was doing instead of being Neo, this sewer level is sooo much more interesting than the Burly Brawl or the Chateau fight"

If you had fun back then, play now through an emulator and remap the controls properly. Pure kino.

Correct take OP. Had a fun time when I rented it, felt cool to do the slow motion stuff and jump around. Have no desire to ever play again

>>9507379
It's fun for about 20 minutes then you realize you've seen all the moves already and now just watch the samed canned animations over and over. i dont think i finished this game...didnt it have some weird satirical final boss or something? i also remember the weird "hacking" which was basically just finding keywords in columns of garbage text or something

This game was my fucking jam back in the day. The hand to hand fighting was great, same with the wall running and flips and shit to dodge bullets, but man it's pretty fucking rough otherwise. The graphics are dogshit, it's glitchy as hell, the tank controls are awful in a game based on a movie featuring characters that are quick and impossibly athletic.
I'm also salty about the two character system. The airport is kino because you really are playing the same story twice from two totally different perspectives, where every other level is almost exactly the same regardless of who you choose.
Fun game, so much missed potential.

On PC, the hacking was like using a command line prompt, which is exactly how it should be. I didn't finish it because the bosses were tedious and pattern based instead of being cool kungfu beat'em'up action.

It's worth a replay but only while stoned.

I liked it when it came out.
I could not figure out why everyone else hated it.
Now that time has passed you end up with people saying it's a good game.

It was an arcade shooter with loads of gun, style, and neat lore that adds to the movie a little bit.
You could even do epic l33t hackerman things on a gamecube controller to run files via cli.

It's not a 5/5 but somewhere between a 3 and a 4. some sections were ass and annoying.

Grampa its 2022. This game is a Jagged mess now. The only thing different from the sea of other shit third person shooters from the time is the hacking minigame.

The box art is pretty sweet tho.

Not that I doubt it, but the (actual) lady that accused the Wachowskis of ripping her off also accused James Cameron of ripping Terminator 2 off her. She just thinks she invented the idea of women in sunglasses and tank tops shooting robots.

I never played Path of Neo, should I bother? What does it emulate best on, etc?

Truly the most matrix kino experience in a video game

Currently playing the path of Neo on aethersx2 and it runs great.
I like the fighting mechanics and that it follows the movie but I'm not fond of the padding levels.
Fighting giants ants as Neo feels off to me.
Anyway it's better than enter the matrix.

anon, I played it when it came out, 4 cds, it's one of the most broken abominations that I had the pleasure of playing and in the era in which I played any garbage

I remember thinking it was odd that black was fire weapon.
Luckily my madcat controller made it super easy to push black with the heel of my thumb.
I have fond memories of messing around with the hacking and the test room.
Only got the game to crash once there, I remember it was neat too how the crash just said tell sparks about a problem with the room.

You're thinking of the path of neo, which was complete shit. ETM was at least flawed in a kind of interesting way.
