If you have Fresh Supply it's worth trying out because it has cool things like enemy insides and many parts flying off (at least in the last update), fixed butchers who cannot be cheesed by crouching, and blood spattering on your face that you have to wipe off to see. But it also has a lot of unnecessary clunk added to it. Otherwise stick to NotBlood.

I couldn't help myself, it had the same mapper as False God and I had to see how he would handle a techbase.
It was amazing, the mini sidequest involving finding all the circuits to unlock the secret area and the final bit where you power down the whole base sending it plummeting to the ground were 10/10.
From the screenshots I've seen and some quick glances pretty much all of the maps in Alkaline look amazing in one way or another.

I really don't remember the lukewarm response for Q2. On single player front it was overshadowed by HL and Unreal and in multiplayer it hit moral obsolescence when Q3 came out, but i don't remember anyone honestly calling Q2 a bad game even after that - people just moved on to different titles.

Compared to the game's age, it is. I am confident that people that trash talk Q2 nowadays are just unloading their grief about the breakup of id's rockstar duo of Carmack and Romero because Q2 had the bad luck of being the first id game that started development after that. I understand their feelings - just like Pink Floyd without Waters, id just wasn't the same anymore. But Q2 definitely wasn't seen as weaker than Q1 back in the day by anyone except maybe Lovecraft fans that were salty about the change in art direction. It got great reviews, it was a hit in multiplayer and had several very influential mods, for some time it was a definitive benchmark, and idTech2 was probably the most successeful engine of its era on the market. Yeah, in hindsight it is not id's best work, but it still has stronger design than Doom 3 and a great game nonetheless.

Hey, Im kind of out of the loop when it comes to all these ports. I primarily want a fairly vanilla accurate port with some qol stuff and a reasonable amount of flexibilty. Right now Im looking at chocolate, crispy, and woof!, and considering looking more into prboom+. Chocolate seems neat but maybe too vanilla focused. Crispy seems good too and a better version of chocolate, but it doestn appear super flexible. Im tempted to go with it though. I found out about Woof! recently and I glanced a tad at it, and it seems alright? But I think there is something Im missing. Of course, there is prboom+, but I feel like Im not smart enough to figure it out, unless theres something I misunderstood.

Can't really notice the difference for the chainsaw, grappling hook(obviously) and the rocket launcher but rest of them get nicely buffed
Shotguns become explosive, the Wand looses explosive shot in favor of becoming a magic shotgun similar to the Heretic wand, Nailgun becomes a hitscanning shredder, Laser cannon gets a golden shot, grenade launcher grenades no longer bounce and get a massive earthshaking explosion now, and thunderbolt gets a really thick beam

Fork of the oldest Quake mapping tools, but the real shit of it is the robust prefabs system.

Note: I imagine most of you who have been mapping for a while have your own folder or .map of prefabs so this probably won't be useful to you.

You just draw a box in NRC, select the brush tab, and you can give it as many sides as you need to instantly with the prism option for instant pillars, octagons; or the instant sphere button, instant ROCK button, instant isodecahedron button, it's ridiculous. You can also use the polygon button (rock button top right corner) to just make instantly carved out objects of any number of sides.

Once you've got what you want, just save the object somewhere and open the .map created in TB and voila, you can copy and paste.

Yes, in fact JACK has an instant arch and spiral stairs feature but you have to buy it on Steam. There's a free version available but I think it's more limited. Still I do like JACK.

Great combination of that futuristic yet relatable-looking military / industrial tech. Dakka is a "vanilla" OP mod where you get style points to earn ammo regen and extra lives. It's mostly the BFG that's OP but the shotguns and chaingun get an altfire with a separate ammo pool so it can be good for ammo starvation slaughter maps too

Doom-Inspired Gumbo

Ingredients:

3 pounds sausage meatballs
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 large carrots, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
12 jalapeno peppers, chopped in half
1 quart chicken broth
1 can diced tomatoes
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 cups cooked white rice
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:

In a large pot, cook the sausage meatballs over medium heat until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the pot and set aside.
In the same pot, add the onion, garlic, carrots, bell pepper, and jalapeno peppers. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the chicken broth, diced tomatoes, and cooked sausage meatballs to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
Add the shrimp, cooked white rice, paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.
Simmer the gumbo for at least 20 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the flavors have melded together.
Serve the gumbo hot, with a side of white rice, cornbread, or oats.

Just wanted to drop in and say that I finally beat Hexen. Took me a minute, but I finally took down D'Sparil. This game was fucking awesome, and I loved playing as the Mage. Fireball spells for days.

The multiplayer was sick too. Me and my friends had a blast teaming up and taking down bosses, and we even had some epic battles against each other.

Hexen is a must-play for any first-person shooter fans. It's got fast-paced action and challenging enemies, and the different character classes add a ton of replay value.

So what he did was took my initial shitty sketch, cleaned it up. Then painted on some rudimentary lighting as you can see in the second part. Then he indexed the image to 12 shades of gray, and a lot of art programs can force dithering when you do that, I know Aseprite can. After that it was just a matter of refining stuff further for him. Really all I did for this particular bit of art was the shit first sketch and making Samson's goggle strap more noticable on the last one on the far right there.

The fucked up thing is I did something like this for Blaz's new subweapon animations, my dumbass didn't even stop to consider using it elsewhere.

That sounds more like an issue with the source port's implementation of UMAPINFO rather than something I can actually fix. Seeing how DSDA and GZDoom both take you to E2M1, I guess UMAPINFO is implemented inconsistently across ports. The best I can do is add nointermission to the UMAPINFO to skip the entering level screen to make it cleaner.

I'm kind of trying to have both. Episode 1 takes you straight to episode 2 to allow for continuous play, while still allowing the player to select episodes from the start. If I can't, then that's alright, the player can still use the episode selection.
