I actually had a good time playing through Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. It has one of my favorite Castlevania casts with Cornell, Reinhardt Schneider, and Henry Oldrey being really fun. The atmosphere was really comfy to me. I really liked the improvements they made over the original. Genuinely recommended.

Cornell is a good boy, but fuck is he retarded and caused thousand's of death because he thought beinga furry was a bad thing. Shame we couldn't of gotten the original version of him in the original idea for Castlevania 64.

How worth it is to play this if I've beaten the original over 10 times? The alternate intro is cool, but isn't it the same game after that?

>isn't it the same game after that?
No. Entirely new storyline added on with new characters, new designs and bosses for previous characters, gameplay has been altered, etc.

For some reason I was under the impression this was just an extended cut version of the original.

It's more like a semi-remake with the prequel added on beforehand

I enjoyed it thoroughly over the original

Why are you wording it like it's weird to enjoy it?
It's literally the best and only good 3D Castlevanis with legit good worldbuilding and gameplay. Contemporary review scores were just low because it was a blatant full price rehash

Avoid the PS2 3D ones, braindead hack and slays

The rose puzzle spanning the entire mansion, maze and courtyard is probably one of the best 5th gen puzzles

I also thought since most people pair them together that it as just Castlevnia 64 with an added character that had a prequel story. But apparently from what I'm reading now the Reinhardt and Carry sections were completely redone right? New story/levels.
So if I play Legacy of Darkness it's worth playing through with Reinhardt and Carry again?

I've never seen the eastern artwork, but I have to say this is one of the cases where the western art has way more Soul. It reminds me of the goosebumps tv show level of campiness.

How come every time there's a werewolf, a man in the animal mask, a minotaur or something else along those lines in the first post, the second post will 99% have the word 'furry' in it? Is everything above considered furry nowadays? Back in the 90's - at least, in my country - I've had exactly 0 ideas furries even exist!
Pardon me my completely off-the-topic post, I'm just kinda sick of it. It seems like soon it will be impossible to discuss anything animal-related without mentioning those sick bastards.
Werewolves are metal. And Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness rules.

>legit good worldbuilding
Something I've been wondering about as of late because it's been a long while since I last played.

So why did they want Cornell's wolf power? Was it just to resurrect Dracula at full power earlier than he would otherwise? Like I get it, but at the same time, what an oddly specific plan. I've even been wondering as of late if CoTM was secretly a prequel explaining it as involving Dracula a botched ritual involving the moon, but that's probably me reading too much into things.

Seconding this, playing as those two hits different in LoD compared to their original incarnations. Reinhardt gets better visuals for his whip upgrades and also has he attack speed and power upped, to the point that he's borderline a tank in my opinion. I don't know if Carrie has been improved in any way, and in fact, I would say that, if you ever reach a point where the game feels too easy, you should play LoD's hard mode with her, because hard mode as Carrie is, to me at least, the hardest way to play the game.

Oh shit, that one looks cool too. I still like the other one more because of how off setting the werewolf looks.

>> No.9485574

I know not many who played it sadly but I'm a few hours in and enjoying it but...what's the point of the werewolf transformation? Is it just extra damage or can it do anything else later?

This is actually something I would nitpick LoD in general on, it'd be nice if all the characters had more character-specific abilities instead of just tweaks here and there.

But yes, werewolf form gives you big dick offense and defense AND let's you run while you throw out your main attack, at the cost of not being able to turn it off outside of cutscenes. I wouldn't say that you should be too stringent about using it, but once you reach the Clock Tower level, you should save up on crystals for Dracula, you're probably going to need that shit.

Still can't believe how well this game controls after playing Tomb Raider 1-3 (clunky ass games)
