Honestly a top 3 MM game for me desu. I love the challenge, but admittably I probably like it more since it was my first MM game. Really enjoy having Bass as a playable character, more classic MM games ought to offer multiple characters.

play goemon if you want a combat and platform mix, unlike mega man has a nice difficulty curve, occasional good platforming and even better bosses that don't rely on trial error bs

If I had heard that while I was trying to master MM2 at age 11 I would've laughed in your face. Who the fuck do you think Sonic and Mega Man were aimed at. Same reason I won't let go of The Great Gatsby as one of the all time great novels is the same reason I will defend Sonic and Mega to the death. They are fun, or entertaining and stood the test of time. No one in America knew what Goemon even was, this board is the only reason for that and while I appreciate this board highlighting games from the past now that we get no good ones, the only reason Goemon gets brought up is because of this reason.

This. Once in a while I still try X 1 if not 4 and drop it after having to go through that awful stage to get the dash. The only highlight in MM games are the bosses and they aren't even that good.

Not at all, and I played it when I was 13, emulating it from some roms my dad got from a co-worker. Although I only beat it with Bass.
The hardest part was pushing through the japanese barrier, buying at random the upgrades and being sad for not reading the gallery entries.
You need to stop this fucking meme.

People told me this game was impossible as Megaman, but I was only able to beat this game with him. Got filtered on the last King fight when he gets mind controlled.

mm3 is definitely not better. There is a reason why outside of this board, people who played these games highlight mm2. Same for Sonic 2, no one outside of autists give a fuck which is better they just prefer the one they enjoyed the most, which is ultimately what the game is all about.

Yes. I just played through every MM game 1-8 over the last 4 days and this is absurd. I'm playing as Mega Man.

First time I got stuck was after beating Cold, Ground, and Tengu. I could barely make it through any stage and then the bosses would kick my ass. Eventually I lucked out and made it past Magic Man's stage. After doing all the bosses, I still have no clue how to beat Burner Man even with his weakness. He's easily the hardest boss in the franchise. Dynamo Man is right after him.

I stopped last night after getting to the end of King Stage 2. The game is complete garbage and nothing but cheap tricks and this King level is longer than some entire MM games. It's complete trash and not worth my time. I used save states and got to the re-fight stage and just turned it off. No wonder MM9 jumped all the way back to MM2. MM&B is easily one of the worst platformers ever made. A true 0/10.

Burner Man is completely beatable. I use Buster only. The trick Is timing your jumps.

Dynamo Man Is even easier. Did you know you can use Ice Wall on the things he uses to heal himself? It actually one shots them.

No. I've beaten it tons of time both on the SNES and the GBA versions as both Rock and Forte, but haven't been able to get all CD's yet. I've had a lot of fun and I think it's one of the best games in the series. I've decided to replay the NES games recently and I don't find most of them fun anymore, but I've played a bit of 7 and &F again and thought they were still great, so I'll beat them again and try to go for all CD's in &F.

Only the GBA version that has a crunched screen, which turns the game into a leap of faith simulator (even more than mmx6) which incidently makes King Machine 2 borderline impossible.
The SNES version [super famicom for the nerds] on the other hand, fantastic game as either Megaman or Bass, Ice wall surfing is pretty damn fun even if its existence makes the game unbeatable if you don't use copyweps since certain parts of the game (king tower 1) will force you to use Ice Wall to proceed. It also helps that the SNES version has proper music so i get to listen to one of the best soundtracks in the entire franchise.

It's a solid 8/10 game, it's no MMX but damn it, it's fun.

I don't like the term kusoge at all, but I do agree that 2 being beloved is more about specific things like having a ton of things to make the game seem "easier" than 1, also an easy mode added for the US version making it easier for a lot of people to get into than the rest of the series, but the game itself is shallow in terms of design, as stages range from actually being really easy to being annoying, and bosses range from being once again easy to being unbeatable no damage if you aren't using certain exploits. It's a rushed mess, and while there are some fun parts like Quick Man's stage, 4 does a way better job at being an easier entry game while also being mostly well-designed.
