Most of the best 3D fighters on the Saturn came from Sega.

- Virtua Fighter (Launch game/ pack-in game)
- Virtua Fighter Remix (given away as free at times)
- Virtua Fighter 2 (arguably one of the best 3D fighters on the console)
- Virtua Fighter Kids (it's Virtua Fighter 2 with big headed 'kid' characters. The gameplay is different from of the different strike ranges.
- Fighting Vipers - It's a defensive styled game that revolves around body armor. The areas are walled too. You can intentionally break off your armour to move faster.
- Fighters MegaMix - Virtua Fighter 2 characters with partial VF3 moves list, vs Fighting Vipers. With other AM2 guest characters.
- Last Bronx - weapon based fighting game, it also has an anime vibe to it.
- Virtual On : This is a bit more like an arena combat game.

Non Sega 3D Fighters:
- Dead or Alive - Japanese only release
- Final Fight Revenge - This one is also a Japan only release and requires the 4MB RAM cart.
- Battle Arena Toshinden -port of the PS1 game
- Battle Arena Toshinden URA - better than the first one
- D-Xhird - weapon based fighter with enclosed arenas
- Criticom
- Rise 2: Resurrection - sequel to Rise of the Robots. It sucks.
- FIST (Japanese only 3D fighter)

The Saturn's third party line up of 3D fighters is a bit hit or miss. But the first party 3D fighters were generally all good IMO. The Saturn has a much bigger selection of third party 2D fighters. Overall, the Saturn was great for fighting games.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysXsfFX8dHc&t=357s

The PS1 game is a bit of a PS1 remake of the original DOA. the Playstation DOA did get an arcade release using some sort of Arcade board made by Sony that was basically an advanced PS1: They are two different takes on the same game.

>PS2 hardware was weird. It couldn't do progressive 480p scan (the reason why DoA2 looks better on Dreamcast) but then it suddenly could with Tekken 5 and Gran Turismo 4.

The DOA2 was developed using NAOMI hardware, which is basically the arcade version of the Dreamcast hardware with more memory, the DC game does look close to the arcade game, with slightly lower resolution textures and a few other differences. But, 480p via VGA, the game was one of the best looking 3D fighters on the DC outside of Soul Calibur. The Dreamcast also got a limited edition version that was released only in Japan, which included the extras found in the PS2 game.

doa2le and doa 2 ps2 are such a strange comparison.
both have stages the other version doesn't.

ps2 still lacks playable bayman and tengu, and vs mode can crash.
random stage in it doesn't cycle to the new stages, but tengu's day level is present even though they removed it from the select.
this is also the version nude kasumi can save as a costume for some reason.

It could do 480p, but then you were left with almost no VRAM left. Most programmers at the time expected VRAM to hold both textures and framebuffer, so they went for small framebuffer and crap textures with 4 colors.

Then years later they figured out they can write a code on the coprocessor that textured from system memory (where they had a massive lead), because the vram was so stupid fast that this was actually practical. After that you had 480p games.
