It's insane how well Japan keeps their retro games. While in America half of the games are "Tony poop's smells good" tier, almost all games in Japan are in pristine condition. How do I keep my collection as well as they do?

Who chose the fucking name for this store? Why Super Potato?

>How do I keep my collection as well as they do?

Put the stuff in a box, protect the box from extreme temperature, humidity, and (if it's transparent) sunlight, make sure pests don't/can't get into it. Pretty simple I should think.

Most importantly, never play or like your games. Liking something causes it to degrade over time. Try to avoid experiencing any emotion at all if possible.

I don't really agree with this. Overall, the average game is probably in better condition and more likely to still be complete in box, but there are a lot of crappy condition games in Japan. Carts with writing, carts with stickers, damaged labels, sun discoloration, etc. Look at game lot listings and you'll absolutely see the crappy condition games.

japanese people are clean and not lazy fat slobs like americucks. They do however smoke until their consoles turn piss yellow and sometimes they write on their famicom carts.

I have 30 or 40 Famicom games that look like they went through hell.

This is more likely from sun exposure sitting in a window or something

Japan are just an incredibly clean race of people that try to keep their stuff in good condition. IIRC it's something about keeping everything clean/good condition for a clean soul.

You're talking about the shops in the middle of the city's tourist traps. I don't know if there are any retro game shops in the middle of Times Square but if there are they'd be just as high quality and also as overpriced as the Japanese shops you're talking about.

Japs trade their games in after they played them through

Japanese don't sweat that much either, East Asians in general have fewer/smaller sweat glands than white people so they don't get caked on sweat and grime on stuff.

My consoles were always kept in the basement, away from sunlight. I was a very clean kid and I hated getting food residue on my stuff, so I was always sure to have clean hands when I used a computer or played one of my consoles. I kept my games in shoeboxes, although I still had most of the original boxes and manuals. Honestly wasn't hard and my stuff still looks pretty damn good.

I do not recommend taking a trip to Japan unless you're a total consumer whore. It'll get old quickly. Fantastic public transport though and it's nice exploring a metropolis that isn't a complete fucking swarthy junkie-ridden disaster for once.

A photo of a DKR cart that was originally labeled "Tony's," presumably the name of the kid who owned the game. Some other kid thought it would be funny to write "poop" on it, making the label "Tony's poop." Somebody else, presumably Tony himself, further added to the graffiti in order to make it less negative, the result being "Tony's poop smells good."

While labelled carts are annoying, back in the day it was common for kids to take games all over the place, so labelling them was a way to prevent mixups, help a forgotten cart make its way back to the owner, or stop some dipshit from claiming your cart as his own.

I find that trigger phrases make my feminine penis moist, rent free. It makes me wanna bing bing wahoo with all the nintoddlers after playing Sega system with my wife's boyfriend. Funko pops on my pvm, wish I had some friends to get down on some gcn, smash bros with no dvds on my TV stand. Vhs is king in my weaboo den, p.s. I take pee's in a Pepsi can left next to Gundam wing toys with a semen stench.

It's not because of smoke, that's just how some plastics are. This can be easily fixed with some kind of lotion and sunlight.
