Post your favorite /vr/ racing games.
For me it's Rage Racer.
>Cool looking scenery - less polished than RRT4 but more detailed.
>Uncharacteristically (for a racing game) gritty atmosphere.
>That music.
>Devil cars! Squaldon/Dragone with fucking V16 sounds like a banshee.
I love the emphasis on gear changing here. Going uphill - downshift. Exiting drift - downshift. Losing traction after the jump - downshift.

It really sucks that you can't beat it with the starting car, since it looks the coolest.

Type 4, 64, V, and PSP are the peak of soul, the spirit of Outrun and Hiroshi Nagai paintings. It's not easy to find a series that has its own soul and zeitgeist like that.

Could you help me with the different versions of Outrun 2 on PS2? I see there's 2006 but also 2 SP which was a japanese only game. Are these the same thing? Does 2006 have both the 2 and Special Tour tracks? I know it does on Xbox

I cannot fathom how you would think this unless you a) only play the most autistic of sims or b) only play the cartooniest of arcade styles, e.g. hydro thunder, rush, cruis'n series

all those are good of course imo but cutting out the mellower arcade middle ground seems an odd preference. do you like Daytona?

2 SP is the japanese version of 2006, it has a different menu (arcade is first choice instead of outrun mode), a bunch of new music tracks, restored finishing circuit animations of the arcade version. If you are not paying for it I recommend this version above the western one for these reasons.

The difference between 2 xbox and 2006 is significant though, and which one I would recommend depends on what one is searching for in the game (both good though)
