/v/ was useless, maybe you can help /vr/...

What ever happened to the /v/ HD remake of LSD? I remember lurking in the irc, the project was intense as shit and I was so hype but then they moved to a forum or something and I couldn't see anything and I haven't heard anything about it in over two years

Although this guy makes a good point, an HD remake would be pretty neat. Quick googling seems to suggest that there are multiple projects that people have worked on/are working on, its kind of hard to tell if any of them evolved from the /v/ one.

Theres a random rotation of where you stand and spawn points all over areas of maps, and parts of maps spawn to specific parts of maps with a random spawn. The ticker goes the second the game starts and becomes completely random but spawning between areas is guided by where you are in your link, and links with these random direction facing and spawn points based on timing. Where you land on the dream graph depends on the areas you experience.. Every part of the dream graph is specific to this.

The grey man is random, the textures are random, the NPCs are random. Grey man interaction causes the Textures to reset its random pattern, and going past 365 days does not make a difference. Text logs of the dreams are static to the days they come up, and a trigger which causes green squares to come up on the screen causes all the movies to play backto back.

Not that guy, but I don't think he meant the people in the thread.

The people with the know-how, free time and actual interest in the game don't.

2 Rambo thumbs up for actually knowing what the fuck is going on though, it's even more cryptic than Eastern Mind. Chu-teng (or whatever you people call it now) was even more straight forward, in that it actually gave you instructions/hints through dialogue, as well as being semi-linear.

In their days Japanese laugh very loud to this game. Only a few copies were sold. Meanwhile all gamers wondered why this horrible product ever existed. Now gaijins pretend this is the most sacred and sophisticated shit in story. And have a weird fetish pretending are true expert because I love glitched and absent gameplay in the worst PS game engine that retard created.

So, how long is something interesting allowed to be cool before people hate it because it's cool? Like, do you just have to become familiar with the name, or does Cracked have to put it in a top ten list?

An HD remake would kind of ruin the game. The creepiness of it were the weird, uncanny-valley graphics.

>In their days Japanese laugh very loud to this game.

And that's why we want it. Japs LIVE in the land of What The Fuck. If gaijins want real weird stuff to laugh at, we have to import it.

You make the mistake of thinking that, because we want it, we must want to take it seriously.

There's what happened to it. If you've been on /v/ for any amount of time, you come to realize that they're quick to band together to try to get a game made, but when it comes down to actually getting shit done, none of them can code or do anything useful, so you end up with a dozen guys going "I can do the music."

Pretty sure I volunteered to do sound design for such a project, though it might have been a seperate Surce project.

But I have such a hard time working on the sound for another now that I have a job so it's out of the question unfortunately.

One of the reason this game was so effective was due to the dated, blocky graphics of the PS1 era. real uncanny valley, know what I mean? HD graphics would make it less unsettling and more cartoony. Anyway,

We don't think it's a good game, we thinks it's weird as fuck and have fun making sense of the man's bizarre dreams.

>> No.948432

Textures actually aren't random. You can only access so many textures at a time depending on how much of the game you've gone through. I don't know what triggers it, but after you see certain things or go through so many days you unlock new textures you can get.

There are actually a lot of rules to the game and how it works. It's just very abstract and not explained at all.

>> No.948696

>>948432

"at a time depending on how much of the game etc"

that pretty much means random.

Save the game before the grey man hits you, he is the kill switch for the textures. Certain areas linked together can change the order.. But its mostly random..

>> No.950683

>>948696
Well I mean it's not completely random in that at any point all of them are available or equally likely at any one point. Experimenting with save states can show that they're predetermined by some unknown factor(s).
