Custom Robo and Custom Robo V2 are really fun action games that as long as you just talk to everyone can be fairly import friendly. It's not super hard to get far in the game and the menus are pretty easy to figure out with some experimenting.

I didn't know much about games, and stuff like mario 64 and ocarina of time were pretty much the set standard for me.

The N64 wasn't much for 2D platformers, but this is probably the best on the system, and one of the best I've ever played for that matter

Pretty much all the first party nintendo games (with some exceptions, like the cheaper games like pokemon puzzle league...unless that's your thing), Rare Platformers, tony hawk skateboarding games.
The cool thing about n64 was that with most of the games (excluding sports games), they were all pretty decent.

DK64 didn't evolve shit. I love the game but even I can say objectively it was a mess of a clusterfuck collect a thon. Took what was good about Banjo, dialed everything up to 11, but burned it to a crisp in the process.

Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 (No Mercy if you're not willing to go full weeaboo) is the greatest wrestling game ever made and one of the greatest fighting games ever made as well

Flying Dragon is a fun one. I would say Paper Mario is the best RPG for it, and the zelda games are generally the funnest, fullest utilization of the hardware.
