sly 2 does everything tenchu attempted better but unfortunately it exists within a baby mascot platformer and is 50% minigames.

More realistically, at least play 2 (it has a level editor, that's kinda fun), Wrath of Heaven, and Fatal Shadow.

So many great aspects, completely ruined by the controls. Same with the original armored core games.
Someone really needs to make some sort of hack that gives these early Fromsoft titles better controls because everything about them is amazing.
The grappling hook and gameplay overall were well thought out, too bad chinks cant into controls back then

The controls are actually great.

It's literally actual Bushido philosophy.
It makes complete sense if you actually train with a real sword.
Those aren't forklift mechanics, those aren't tank mechanics, those are realistic Sword mechanics.

What is wall running even good for? This whole game feels like style over substance

Tenchu 1 is the only good game in the series. 2 fucked up the scoring system and the ps1 hardware couldnt handle the scale they wanted without fog bullshit and enemies who can see you further than the fog and Wrath of heaven would be good if all the enemies weren't constantly surprise double-taking so you have to watch them for 5 minutes to see their entire routine just to know when it's actually safe to sneak up on them.
