The 1995 film is the best and only good thing that happened to the franchise. Both the manga and TV shows forget about social critique aspects and devolve into little more than cop worship. Haven't played the PS2 game yet but the PSP game (which is an entirely different game, for anyone confused) is decent enough as far as PSP FPSs go. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wasn't a SAC junkie though. Has all the original VAs, solid music, character and tachikoma customization and feels very much like an ep of the show, so there's that much at least going for it

Not that anon but I also vastly prefer Jin Roh to Innocence. It's definitely heavy-handed with its fairy tale allusions but it still has a great story of restrained love in war time at its heart, and fully 2D animation as opposed to Innocence's glaring CGI elements

But despite all this talk about it, I think it's worth mentioning Jin Roh's director Hiroyuki Okiura had a bigger impact on its story than Oshii, despite it being based on a manga he wrote
