9412429 No.9412429 [Reply] [Original]

Does anyone here have any experience with the Duckstation emulator? I'm trying to make a comprehensive list of all the bugs and was wondering if anyone had any they wanted me to add. Game bugs with no enhancements only. I'm not looking for upscaling problems or anything like that.

He's such a bitch that he refused to add proper shader support despite shaders basically making or breaking emulators these days. It's only still around because it's easier to use than shitroarch.

>> No.9412541

>>9412526
It technically does have proper shader support. The problem is he opted to copy-paste Dolphin's shader spec rather than RetroArch's for some reason, and since Dolphinfags as a whole have never really cared for shaders, it has a pitifully small amount of them available, and Stenzek doesn't care to port more.

World Cup 98 has sound bug, Chrono Cross sometimes has a graphical glitch when you try select an element, in Spider-Man there's a line of dialogue that won't play ("Thanks lizard") when you go to talk to the lizard in the sewers maze level, there's a line that also won't play on Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro ("using square and circle i can punch and kick" in the tutorial with beast at the beggining of the game), was Captain Commando fixed? There was still glitches last time i checked a few months ago

>in Spider-Man there's a line of dialogue that won't play ("Thanks lizard") when you go to talk to the lizard in the sewers maze level
I'll check that if you've got a save file
>there's a line that also won't play on Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro ("using square and circle i can punch and kick" in the tutorial with beast at the beggining of the game)

I know, I'm just pointing out it COULD have good shaders, but it doesn't because nobody cares to write or port them targeting the Dolphin shader spec. It's only recently it got a port of CRT-Lottes, which is a halfway decent CRT shader but nowhere on the same league as what's available on RetroArch or even ReShade.

Dunno why you deleted that, but most likely it was just that. Stenzek doesn't really care about shaders, so he probably just tacked on the Dolphin spec due to familiarity. Stenzek threw a tantrum around the beginning of the year over stupid emudev drama bullshit (he even tried to get his perceived enemies cancelled over it) and development did cease for a few months, but while he did "resume" it eventually, he has stopped development in the form of new features or improving the core, as he literally doesn't want to improve it lest his opponents steal his hard work, and I'm not kidding. They don't. His claim revolved around a cloud gaming platform called Piepacker, which uses RetroArch's fork of Duckstation (known as Swanstation) for PS1 emulation, and the fact that they at one point employed a relatively inactive RetroArch contributor. It then came out that Piepacker made a profit in the millions, and Stenzek went absolutely nuclear over it, causing him to connect dots in the most schizo manner possible, so that a cloud service using an open source fork of his open source emulator while employing a RetroArch contributor now equaled RetroArch making millions in his head.
