What does /vr/ think of TC 1 and 2?

Played them recently, and they are really good (the Jap versions in MAME).

First impressions are a simpler version of Gradius with better graphics and cool bosses.

How is this series not more well known?

The Jap version has a vulcan powerup (V) which enables autofire, not present in the American release. There are other changes. This is for both games.

Also the pods you can acquire (like options from Gradius) can be expanded for widespread fire or contracted for focused fire.

Some powerups were removed from the US version.

Basically the Jap versions are the superior versions.
