why don't you just put emulators on your computer, run a program on startup that lets you select roms with a pad, unplug your mouse and keyboard, and then hook your computer up to a crt

My computer is hooked up to a CRT, a CRT monitor. I could just get a VGA out to an actual CRT TV that's four feet away, but I prefer not.
Also I prefer finding roms by typing the name, far far far quicker. I'd have to get a multi-emulator front end for that anyway. Plus it'd be stupid to unplug my mouse and keyboard from my only currently operating computer.
About the only thing I'd bother with is outputting to the TV and keeping everything else the same. But why bother?

>> No.937229

>>937204
How exactly would one go about getting a VGA out to a CRT TV?

>> No.937251

>>937229
If the CRT TV has an RGB SCART input, it's easy (just a passthrough cable, and then set the right video mode). If your TV only has composite/component/s-video, you need some kind of encoder.

i do

Got an old Dell Inspiron 6000 for free for helping my buddy move a couch. It has an S-Video output on the side so I run it to the Triniton with a 3.5mm-to-RCA converter plugged into the headphone jack for audio. The Intel Pentium M and 1Gb are more than enough for PSX and earlier emulation. I never open the lid. It just stays on the side and I wake it with a mouse or a keyboard or a joystick. Already had usb adapters for snes, nes and playstation. Use the joystick for mame. Works out good.
