He didn't beat the game.

Game Genie is one brutal blackpill. On one hand, you have a future Chad like this >>9283428 who only cares about beating the game and finishing his objectives. On the other hand, you have a future cuck like this mofo here >>9283469 who seeks validation for his supposed "achievements" which are really just a coping mechanism for his sorry, lame, uneventful life.

The Chad beats the game. He doesn't care how. He'll do it, if not, he'll cheat, if not, he'll just get someone to do it. OP's kid is the CEO. First posters is the wagie. Such is the nature of life.

I remember my parents using a Game Genie as training wheels for me when I first started playing. Good times.

>but he didn't bea--

stfu. only two things need to be beaten in this moment: your face and your mom's pussy. if you open your mouth to speak to me, I'm going to take care of both today.

Using the Game Shark to unlock hidden stuff like the Calico pistol in RE2 made you a mean motherfucker back then.

>> No.9283534

It could. The edge connector was thicker than a typical NES cart.
But it would also make an already worn-out NES work a little better because it put more pressure on the pins.

I had one for Game Boy, but I only ever used it to fuck around on games I'd already played and mastered, not to actually cheat. I did something similar with FFX much later on, where I borrowed a friend's Game Shark to give all my FFX characters max stats well after I'd beaten the game just for shits. And much later still, on my fourth playthrough of FFIX, I used a cheat on an emulator to give myself the Excalibur II because speedrunning is for the gays.

>> No.9283579

Best use of a game genie / action replay / game shark is seeing unused beta content still left on the disc. I spent many comfy hours exploring that stuff.

>> No.9283582

Also some games just plain play better with infinite money. Like Gran Turismo. I also used a GS to pass the higher level license tests.

the real sovl of the game genie was putting in random codes to mess with games. my friend and i would stay up late doing it all night. it was hilarious. a lot of times the games would crash or just not launch, but other times it would glitch the music out (and sometimes sound very cool) or even change the graphics. the manual that came with the game genie even gave a crash course on deliberately making your own codes (which was far too advanced for me to comprehend at the time).

yeah the gameshark for ps1 made my edgelord self feel like a hacker. i remember using codes on the re2 demo disc. also one time i took the gameshark out while my brother was playing something. it wiped his memory card that had full completion ff7 save file on it. good times

>> No.9283585

>>9283491
I think the kid just had fun with his games.

>> No.9283589

Also: unlocking stuff when your memory card takes a shit or you accidentally delete or overwrite something. Or you just need more space. Or you rented a game and don't really care too much about it so you just want to see what is on the other side of 50 hours of gameplay before you have to take it back.

Overall these "cheating" devices were a hardcore gamer's best friend.

Well, you literally were one. I can't see any way a person could argue that using a GS to alter a game's code isn't hacking.

Gamesharks were so much easier to make codes for. Couple that with being able to store codes made them so much better. That is probably why Game Genies disappeared after 4th gen.

I know I had a lot of fun with GameGenies. Mot only was it fun to use as a cheat device. But also, it was fun to use as a way to break the game, or to mod it to do weird things. It gave me extra reason to go back.

Game Genie doesn't guarantee you can beat the game, actually. Not all games have codes like that. Maybe it only has a code that gives you 20 lives or something, you can still lose.

yep, i remember looking up several of my games in the code book and being disappointed that they were lacking in useful codes. granted, better codes may have existed they just werent specifically put in the book. a neighbor of mine had a different code book with other games than me.

Maybe, depends on how dumb and easy to entertain he is. Cheats just destroy the game. By definition, really, they stop being games and become toys, sandboxes if you're lucky. The same goes for "easy" modes, or worse, the fully configurable "difficulty" settings on modern games. Way to ruin your own fucking work, idiots.

>> No.9285595

Some games or genres it doesn’t make sense to cheat, since it’s a direct challenge of skill (rhythm, fighting, racing).
Others lock rewards and impose ridiculous challenges to taste them. It can feel good to unlock the toy chest and unleash hell on the sandbox, and in that regard it makes sense to cheat.

I still remember the fucking day like it was yesterday. That cold wintery day when I was outside playing in the snow and my mom pulled into the driveway and hurried inside. When I came back in she was playing Wheel of Fortune or some shit with the game genie plugged into it. She'd bought it as a surprise when she was out shopping and I didn't know it then but that was the day my life went to shit. Sure, cheat codes existed but Game Genie set the precedent that I didn't have to work for my achievements and could just cheat my way through life. Sure, game genie is just one drop in the bucket compared to the shitty parenting and everything else but I often wonder how my life would be different if I never had game genie. I'm 36 years old, single, unemployed, and suicidal. How did your lives turn out?

imagine taking care of a child for years, feeding them, changing their shitty diapers, rocking them to sleep for an hour while they scream bloody murder at 3am, always putting their needs before your own, spending every waking moment trying to prevent them from getting raped or hit by a car, driving them to school, helping them when they're sick, and on top of it all, spending your own disposable income to buy them a neat toy, and this little faggot grows up to be an egotistical beta male who blames a game genie for his life's problems and then he goes online to talk shit on you. the world is so fucking cruel. dont be like this retarded fag, love and respect your parents, because one day you won't have them anymore.

you have to learn to be kind and compassionate, especially to people who gave up their lives to take care of you. nobody is perfect, nobody always knows the right thing to do. sometimes parents make mistakes, but that doesnt mean they did so with bad intentions. as an adult you have to learn to forgive parents for any flaws they had and take responsibility for your own actions or the cycle of failure will only continue. if you are 36 years old and go online to complain about how your mom doing something nice for you was the catalyst for your failure, you are an immature faggot.
