it's true but can't we agree that it's a bit weird that
Paper Mario has been ported three times, was available on the Wii, WiiU and now Switch
Paper Mario TTYD has never been ported or rereleased

It's probably the most major Gamecube game to never receive any kind of rerelease that doesn't have a defacto successor (like Brawl for Melee) except for maybe Rogue Leader but that's certainly debatable...

>Paper Mario has been ported three times
It has not, it can just be officially emulated on these platforms. Gamecube emulation isn't as easy, they would need to put in some actual effort to make it available on the switch.

Troglodytes like you are the ones guilty for the current state of nintendon't shitting out increasingly more stale, uninspired, copy/paste games. Miyamoto personally made sure to kill the Mario RPG's because they didn't follow his dogma of never giving his characters any personality.

That's just GameCube in general. Remember they gave us Splatoon instead of a Mario Sunshine sequel/remake. No F-Zero ever again, still no Prime 4 (yeah it's in development supposedly but for how much longer), Smash's Adventure Mode has been basically removed from existence, and still no GameCube support for NSO. Modern Nintendo is just weird I guess.

I think beyond being slightly newer and harder to emulate than the earlier consoles, it didn't sell very well either, and is constantly living under the Wii's shadow. Kind of messed up when you think about it, but that's how we ended up with Wii U. Nintendo made huge money off of the casual market in the mid to late 2000's which is in direct opposition to games like F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime, and Starfox Adventures. They did bring back Wind Waker on the Wii U, but that's about it. The primary focus on Switch seems to be more about bringing over all the games that were stuck on the Wii U with NSO only supporting up to N64 games, for now.

>What is wrong with turning on your [retro console] and playing it?
This is Nintendo's attitude about a lot of their older games and they've directly said so many times in interviews and autists still cry BUT I WANT TO PLAY IT ON MY SWITCH

>his answer was "we're first gonna have to think about a new paper gimmick". I knew then that the series is in the hands of a retard and it's as good as dead.
There's a disconnect. Western fans don't understand the franchise and think it's supposed to be a proper RPG series. Japanese fans and Nintendo know it's not and that rpg was the gimmick for this title.

>> No.9279834

I mean, I grew up with some of these games so it's no big deal for me, but some of them are a lot more expensive now than they used to be, and TTYD is one of those games. Never mind that they changed everything completely for Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star, which I'm guessing is what OP is referring to

Since the '90s, Nintendo has been stuck in limbo, wanting to capture a wider audience of players while being eternally conflicted with itself as a family-friendly company.
The Gamecube era was their last genuine attempt, but after that they've finally lost it, ultimately turning their old IPs into a postmodern satire.
Does anyone remember that Bowser was originally framed as a cruel and intimidating monarch, while nowadays he has less competence than his own portrayal in Yoshi's Island?
I wouldn't be surprised if the current head producers at Nintendo deemed this game as being "too adult" to feature Mario's face on it (as ridiculous as it may sound).
