so we can all agree that 2nd Impact is better than 3rd Strike, right?
in the aesthetics and music departmen of course

>> No.9275316

Yes except no Chun-Li who is the most aesthetic.

Pretty standard opinion to think that the BGs and layout of 2I/NG were better than 3S. If you knew anything about these games you would understand why. Dumbfuck

>> No.9275374

>>9275284
Supposedly the tier list is even more lopsided than 3S with Ibuki being undisputed top tier above everyone else.
But then again the game had a very limited tournament life so who really knows?

No, the aesthetics and the art in general in 3S was way better, as is the music and the sound design especially. Everyone sounds like a retard with a bad mic in first two. And the Ikeno character art from Third Strike is some of my favorite SF art ever. Only thing at all the first two games have over 3S is a few stages.

You're probably thinking of New Generation. In Second Imoact Ibuki is still strong, she's probably top three, but Akuma and Yun are definitely stronger and Yang and Sean aren't too far behind.

Akuma is S+ tier in 2I

>> No.9275802

How is Akuma considered tournament legal? He's a secret character that requires a code to even select him. Same situation as Akuma in ST and that Akuma is banned.

>> No.9275898

>>9275802
Because as strong as he is he doesn't break the game. In ST even Claw can't really fight Akuma, Akuma utterly breaks ST. Bans are usually avoided in any fighting game if possible as no one really likes the idea of someone's main being unusable.

My girl Ibuki wasn't nerfed to the ground, and she even had an infinite, so yeah it was better.
It also had better quality stages.

What you've gotta realise is that 3rd strike is heavily more reliant on the nuances of a crt.

A lot of the art in 3rd strike used very heavy dithering barely seen at all in New Generation and infreqiuently in 2nd Impact. This of course can only really be seen on a lcd. It's not like ps1 dithering either, it's proper made for arcade dithering and it smoothes even over rgb scart.

Another thing is cgi. Rarely used in ng, more common in 2i (like on alex's stage) and pretty broadly used in 3rd strike. To be honest it looks like ass but again is something that suffers way more because of lcds. Looks fairly good on a crt screen.

Another thing is that they literally ran out of space because of the added characters. This led to the compressed colour banding stages (hence the need for dithering), the cutting of multiple special intros they planned to add, and scrapping the reintroduction of Rolento.

>> No.9277620

2nd Impact Sean, as busted as he is, is probably one of the most fun characters in a SF game period.
Whiffing st.HP for meter gain, dragon smash with the dunk, ex tackle's animation and comboing ex tornado into SA3 is satisfying as hell.
A shame he was completely neutered in 3S.

That's not how it works in tournaments.
If Akuma was legal in ST every tourney final would be Akuma vs Akuma after 90% of players picked him.

Thank god. That guy should never have been a SF character. He doesn't even fit into Final Fight and it was a relief he got cut from the SNES version.
