Does /vr/ like Dragon Ball Z?

SNES era had some pretty good games.

>> No.925145

were they all rpgs? I've been looking for a dragonball z game to play.

Famicom had most of the RPGs

Although there was a re-make of two of them on the SFC.

Super Saiya Densetsu is the name and it has an english translation if you're interested.

Super Famicom mostly had Fighting Games.

I was trying to stay away from the rpgs actually. Not my cup of tea. What would you recommend in terms of flighting/platformers/action-adventure games?

No Hyper Dimension?

>>925165
Super Butoden 2 is the best out of all of them.

1 had some clunky controls and 3 had issues with lack of content and the cast mostly consisting of super saiyans.

2 has a story mode centered around the Cell games and goes into Bojack Unbound after and Broly if you meet certain requirements.

Game is infamous for requiring a code to unlock Goku and Broly which took some balls on the part of the developers.

Also the OST is great one of the best soundtracks on the SNES and the arranged soundtrack is ever better.

Oh yeah and Hyper Dimension is alright too.

Heh, I like how the game covered everything. The combat system is still a bit lame.

super butouden 1 plays a lot better with the speed code. And super butouden 2 with the speed code is some of the best fighting game action and DBZ action EVER! Like honestly that speed code makes it soooo much more awesome try it and report back. Hyper Dimension was my favorite but now I have to say its super butouden 2

Not really. There are top down RPG/adventure games, traditional JRPGS, card games, and sidescrolling beat-em-ups, but I can't think of any actual platformers.

Pic related was released on my country way before the Freeza Saga aired here.
When Goku turned Super Saiyan for the first time on tv...oh man, was that a day to remember. It was insane.

Oh, and, while not retro, I had a LOT of fun with the DS JRPG Attack of the Saiyans.

Also, that rumor about unlocking Yamcha, Tien and Chaozu in the last three slots.

I always thought Shin Butouden as the final refined version of the Butouden series. Buu Yuu Retsuden is pretty good too.

Super Butoden 2 is my personal favorite out of all DBZ games.
This is in part due to it being pretty good, and in part because of nostalgia.

Once you get the hang of it, the game becomes super fun especially playing against friends, anyway the CPU in higher difficulty levels can be a bitch too.
Art direction and OST are both wonderful, I especially like the OST. The Story mode features the end of the Cell saga, and a whole new side story about Boujack from one of the movies, but it's a different version, a reimagining of some sort, they did stuff like this on the RPG titles as well. The story mode is interactive, almost like a visual novel in the sense that you choose where to go or what to reply (mostly "yes or no").

There's actually a really good Evangelion game for the PSP, that was ported to the PS2, called Evangelion Jo, picture related.
There's another Evangelion game on the PSP and PS2 that plays a lot like Smash Bros. too, that one is called Evangelion: Battle Orchestra Portable.

I'd agree that Eva64 is the best.

But I'd still wouldn't say it's a good game.

Might just be a really tough series to make a game for. I mean, you only have so many enemies in it.

I remember beating that Dragonball Z RPG for the SNES when I was a kid.

Sadly never beat Super Saiyan Vegeta.

Also the first game I bought for my Super Famicom collection.

>> No.931104

Very good. The RPG's were interesting, to say the least. Legend of the Super Saiyan was cool with the cutscenes and having you see the actual fights. It's a damn shame I can't find gamerips of the music anywhere. Butoden 2/3, Super Gokuden 2, Bu Yuu Retsuden and Hyper Dimension had some awesome tunes. I actually ripped the Genesis game's music but it's on a really old hard drive and I lack the tools to extract the files off it.
