GTA 3 is perfect except for the mission where you have to collect the packages the planes drop off and it gives you 5 stars.
The fucking moment you jump off the boat (and take damage because you'll jump in the water before it teleports you to land), the FBI is there with three cars with four dudes each with perfect aim and machine guns.
in the event you can steal that banshee (or go the other route and get lucky stealing a car on the road), the intensity of the chase is nearly impossible to escape. they ram into you with the force of god and WILL blow it up which leaves you to steal another car. this is the hardest part of the mission, as there is a 95 percent chance they will
A. run you over
B. shoot you dead immediately
C. pull you out of any car you happen to be close enough to steal]

almost every other hard mission has a way to cheese it besides this one.

there are two landing spots. it's possible to make it to paynspray, but the fbi will ram you right the fuck off the platform or kill you before you get there.
and since they aren't always marked on the map (at least in the ps2 original), you have to remember how to get there every time.

Flashback FM for the continuity between Vice City and GTA3. The entire radio station serves as a huge hint along with the "see you in miami" billboard for the location/era of the next GTA, and this continuity continued in Vice City Stories where Toni is an up and coming DJ.
It was incredibly forward thinking and unheard of to do something like this and really made the GTA universe feel "real". Toni's voice is even coarser in GTA3 as she reminisces about being a party girl DJ, the exact character she plays in Vice City. The fact this came out first and they thought this through is just "kino". Spectacular attention to detail and one of those elements that makes the original GTA trilogy the lightning in the bottle it was. This being so cool is why I'd put it at number one.

MSX radio for being exactly like British pirate radio stations.

Rise FM for the exact songs you mentioned. Slyder - Score is debatebly the best song in the game.

K-JAH for playing the only good black people music in the game. Scientist is seriously good stuff.

While I don't listen to Head Radio too much in game, it gets props for nailing late 90's/early 2000's pop music (reminds me of The WB channel, remember that?) and being, as far as I know, all original music created for the game.
Conor & Jay - Change is very "Len".

I think Rise FM or MSX would define GTA3 the most.

i just make sure my cartel truck is fully repaired before going in and just make a straight shot at full speed for kenji. it's enough force that even the cars he's in front of will kill him if they ram into him as cartel truck is a heavy vehicle as far as the game's physics are concerned. it's a crapshoot if it works but i can see this taking 40 tries as you'll be leaving the parking garage with your cartel truck near death if you manage it. i just beat this mission again last night and it took about 5 or 6 tries.

>Get rocket launcher from Phil before starting Waka-gashira Wipeout!
>Drive the Cartel Cruiser up to the second-highest level of the parking complex.
>Get out of the Cartel Cruiser and fire the rocket launcher at the part of the "ceiling" where Kenji should be standing.

2. Make sure your truck is fully repaired.
3. Or just fire a rocket UNDER kenji to kill him and his bros.

For the second mission, it's safer to just hug the waterfront until your'e close, grab the police bribe, and then get to the tower. Most of the time there's enough barriers that the FBI can't get you.

I’m in the middle of a play through on PS2 right now and I can tell you for certain it extremely rarely goes under 20fps, you only get that kind of choppiness for brief moments when there are tons of explosions or 5 cops ramming into you. It hovers between 20-30.
Post processing effects and color grading are all 100 percent accurate too as you stated. They also made changes to the HUD for PC version.

3 does the "urban loneliness" feel best of the series. Obviously the moody lighting and weather is crucial, but it's also the way your guy is silent, you've no friends, the mission cutscenes are basically just "walk in, get told what to do, walk out", nobody talks to you in the car on missions. All there is in your life is work. You're not wrong, which is why the ending cutscene of the mission I initially referred to makes no sense. He spent most of the game's story doing everything he could to get closer to Catalina, including betraying the people he worked with, only to hesitate in exacting his revenge when he caught her by surprise, gun in hand. You claim regular old GTA is the other side of the extreme. My original post only claims I’d think radiation poisoning would be preferable to GTA6.
What you claimed is that you’ll defend nothing, and what is natural and what people enjoy is anachronistic to the times, therefore giving total credence to the other extreme you claim you aren’t defending. This is why nobody likes a fence sitter, you just become absorbed into whatever power asserts dominance.
TakeTwo has publicly stated GTA6 won’t have stereotypes, will have female protagonist, and they were removing the “frat boy culture” (Did the Houser brothers strike you as frat boys?) from Rockstar. How well has this worked out for everything else they literally force this upon? But you’re right mr introspective genius, we all need to just realize “the time they are a changin’”.

But my favorite mod I did was when I realized that FBI cars always spawn at top speed so they can catch up to you right away, so I set their max speed to be 10000mph so they would spawn and then rocket off into the distance

I don't really agree, they tried to do a lot of the same things, just from a different perspective. The cutscenes slowed things down and there's less freedom when it comes to which missions you can do at which time, things aren't as immediate and there were obviously simplified aspects (arguably removed completely but I think there are at least remnants of the system still in play) of GTA2's respect system, but for the limitations they were working with GTA III is closer to the first two games than any of the other 3D games in the series, and arguably a lot more focused than those games ever were. It's clearly not the same thing as those games but honestly I think it does a respectable job of translating that type of game to 3D.

And then when it comes to my vehicle problems, on the OG Loc steal a music van mission, they send cars after you which don't show up on the map as enemies. They would just plow me into a corner and kill me. The next time I tried it, no enemies came after me. I don't get it.

For me all the stations are good. Can't say that with the other GTA Games. My favorites though are MSX FM and Rise FM.

After playing Parasite Eve and getting into Opera I'm starting to really like Double Cleff FM. Any Double Cleff fans here?

Well, I would've liked to see what Upstate Liberty would've looked like, though not having it doesn't take anything away from the game for me.

I would say so. San Andreas countryside is fun and you're only a 3 minute drive away from a city and an airplane at any point.

Even if unintended, the fact that they designed the mission as such allowed you to take advantage of it to complete the mission differently. It's a far cry from having scripted shit in missions because you want to force the player into an "epic" scene.

I actually never struggled with that mission, I just ran him the fuck over and hightailed it outta there.

me and my friend at the time got into trying to beat the cab/ambulance/police/fire missions.

I think he finished police (vigilante), and I did the ambulance .. fucking crucial.

Your best bet was to do them right after you started a new game, then there was no cut off areas because of gang violence, and they wouldnt try to put pickups on different islands.. which would just make it impossible.
