Saturn bros... I have a problem.
Recently I got a pal Sega Saturn and Pseudo Saturn cartridge, burned some Japanese games on CD-R, the games worked however they ran slower with smaller aspect ratio.
Is there a way to make my Saturn run games at 60hz?
I have heard about the switch mod, but I don't want to open my console.
I know that I was kinda retard, should have bought a Japanese one but I completely forgot about this shit.
I mean my pal ps2 can play ps2 and ps1 games at 60hz

You either mod or buy a 60hz saturn.

so not even Pseudo Saturn cartridge can do the trick.
Is the 60hz mod easy to do? will it fix the aspect ratio? or it will just make the games run faster?

Gotta mod it for 60hz, what model do you have?

I think it's model 2

I mean VA not model, anyways from model 2 and on it gets harder. Some of the model 1 variants have two unused points in the battery compartment for a switch between 50hz and 60hz

How do I identify the VA? do I have to open it?
are there any tutorials to simplify things

You need to solder and cut some traces. There's some switchless region mod kits you can buy. 60hz fixes the aspect ratio and makes the games run at 60 fps.
>>9261828
You need to open the console. I think you can identify the variant by the type of PSU, but the best way is to remove the metal plate and check the VA model on the motherboard.

thanks
I found this website https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/sega-saturn-switchless-region-mod-kit/
I've never hardmoded a console before, I will try my luck with this

Is that the PAL version of Keio the Flying Squadron 2? Weird to see black bars in-game if that's the case.

>>9261931
yup that's the pal version, I've also tried the Japanese version, both of them have black bars

Yes, my Saturn is pal too, it’s very easy to mod region and speed
So long as you can do basic soldering

I actually ordered this one and the SuperCIC for the SNES, but I've yet to do any mod. What is easier, lifting pins or cutting the traces? Will breaking the pin fuck up the console?
I have no problem soldering point A to B, it's the other steps that scare me a little.

I’d say lifting pins is easier
Just make sure you count correctly and don’t rip it off

Well I yeah, I have no problem soldering basic stuff, just like what Anon said here >9262010
