i dont even know what to pick, i love them all. TS1 is the fastest and has some of the best characters and maps, TS2 is the most polished and has the best singleplayer levels, TSFP has the best co-op and mapmaker... hard choice. gun to my head, probably TS1 just because i like how zippy it is -- and Docks is one of the best levels both SP and MP.

You didn't mention it, but the best game mode is virus, the best cheat code is infinite ammo (which removes the need to reload), the best challenge is Day of the Damned, and the best minigame is the Lunar Lander clone. Kinda boring taste, but that's what I like.

Not really. They're good, but all of the games have a real lack of polish to them and the series' kind of bumbles around to find an identity. Third game also lacks passion.

Training Ground is a contender for GOAT. curious why you like Chicago so much though. it's one of the more boring missioms IMO. pretty diverse objectives but the weapons and aesthetics are the least interesting of any level and everything after blowing the safe and taking out the snipers is run and gun and the boss is ez mode

>> No.9234395

TS1 doesne get enough love. Seems most people started with TS2 and never played the first one. Has some of the best maps and the mapmaker is definitely the most simplistic of the 3 but the tile sets and extra features missing from later installments make it a lot of fun. doesnt support singleplayer missions but i managed to fenagle my own by using team bag tag starts in weird ways.

how the fuck do you like the generic 1920s gangster shit for "atmosphere" and then say the only other level that interests you is Sibera when levels like Neo Tokyo, Robot Factory, Atom Smasher and Notre Dame exist? I'm smelling a classic case of "filtered on Hard" here.

>Chicago. I like the atmosphere I guess.
As someone who grew up in Chicago, it doesn't feel like Chicago at all. The architecture and street layout is all wrong. Feels like they were just "OK, Chicago is basically a mini New York with Al Capone, so let's do that!"
As a video game level, it's fine, I guess, although Prohibition-era gangster aesthetic is not my thing.

I don't think Chicago is a masterpiece of level design or anything. There are definitely problems in that level. TimeSplitters 2 doesn't have very strong story levels more or less. Perhaps that is partly because of limitations of the budget, but I accept that because there's a mapmaker, game modes, cool characters, etc.
I like Siberia because of the way it unfolds. It also feels much bigger than it really is, and the introduction of zombies is neat. Neo Tokyo should have been great. Unfortunately tracking somebody in TimeSplitters 2 feels silly. It's like there's a missing element or not enough people in the city, and I totally understand why that is. Notre Dame has a lame boss fight. Cool level but rather lame at the end. The other two are fine I guess. Atom Smasher is a fun idea. I don't like the way Robot Factory looks and many of the scifi weapons blow except for the auto rifle.

I've unfortunately still not played TS2 to this day. Probably because it's a PS2 exclusive and I played the Xbox a lot more as a kid. By the time I got my first console that generation TS2 was already out.

I also don't know how anyone could prefer TSFP over TS2. It's not a bad game by any means, but it might as well be an entirely new franchise. I don't know why they added some faggot announcer either. This is why you don't copy what other games are doing.

you should really go back and play it. TS1 is my personal favorite. it has the fastest weapons and movement speed and the levels are hardcore, no bullshit run and gun goodness. the story mode is very simple compared to the later games but the levels are more replyable because you unlock stuff for beating them under par times on top of beating them on certain difficulties. also the maps are the absolute best by far. a castle, a bank, a mall (with a real working clock), a creepy village, a graveyard, a space ship, a war torn WW2-esque city, and the best versions of Streets, Chinese and more. 2 and FP are fantastic but there's a certain feel to the first one that can't be beat.

When I first heard of these games, I thought "Timesplitters" in the game referred to a ragtag group of people who are from different time periods teaming up and going through different eras to get rid of those ugly alien things (which I later of course found out where what the "Timesplitters" actually were.)
The actual story (and lack thereof) of these games disappointed the fuck out of me.

def more covered up. still, this art is higher fidelity and the original cyberfairy would be way more pornographic with all these extra polygons. she's still got a short skirt, at least, and the women shown appear to still be hot, so ts4 is still ahead of the industry based on this image alone.

i hope the game isn't pozzed, but if this is the trend i'll be disappointed. still, look at gretel from ts1 to ts2. if you judged the game by that character design alone, you'd think ts2 was pozzed. so hopefully cyberfairy isn't the rule.

I know that Siberia is a nod to Goldeneye 64, are there any other maps that are either related to Goldeneye or another video game?

Atom Smasher is definitely Goldeneye-inspired but i'd say the most obvious homage aside from Siberia is Breaking and Entering in TSFP -- the whole level is laid out and plays very much like Perfect Dark and there's a datadyne logo on one of the buildings in the background.
