So is there any reason to buy Link's Awakening (GB) over DX? I feel like I heard somewhere along the line that GB was harder, but DX is in color and hasthe extra dungeon.

nostalgia, that's about it

Color dungeon item makes the game much too easy.

You can't get 100% completion on the DX version without becoming a THIEF.

Best version is the non-color 1.1 version, which is actually less buggy than the 1.2 version.

Why would you like the DX? All it adds is color and a photographer mouse.

Op here. Any way to differentiate between the two since I'm looking to buy relatively soon?

The quickest way to identify the superior 1.1 version is with the screen warp bug. It's only fixed in that version. Obviously you need to be able to do it consistently to know that it's not working because the bug is fixed instead of your timing failing.

Otherwise, you can identify the version early with the fishing bug and the text when you get your shield.

DX is the way to go. The advantages to the black and white version are minimal.

>> No.920217

having the screen warp bug is a plus. It's unlikely to happen accidently, and adds replayability/sandbox mode.

Yes but you can beat the dungeon, even kill the boss, and then leave by the front door without taking any of either of the costumes. That's what I did all the time.

There you go. The color dungeon is optional, as well. And the "100% completion if you become a THIEF" doesn't matter because you only get an extra picture for the mouse which is optional anyway, you get the best ending by not dying even once.

wow you can't be more edgy than this

B-b-b-b-but graphics don't matter...!

Is there any version with no color/mouse photo crap/etc but with all the bugs fixed?

exactly. Why would anyone prefer the original? I have both (have finished them both at least 5 times each) and I can honestly say the DX version is my favorite by far. The game just feels like it was made to be played in color.

Yes, the DX version is superior in everyw ay possible, except disable your smear filter, it's ugly as sin - not just from the purist perspective, but from a sane-person one, too.

You can cancel most dialogs with B.
Less annoying hints.
At least with the German version, the B&W version is the least censored.

Best version is a DX rom with the restoration hack (http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/612/)) applied.
