Thinking of getting one but was a little disappointed it doesnt run GB games natively

I’m holding out for something better than the Flashmasta for Wonderswan.
I know how to program, and solder. I’m wondering if I buy a breakout board if I can make something better myself. H88r2

>> No.9222651

For Game Boys you have more options than just Everdrives. In the case of GBA you're actually probably better off getting the EZ Flash Definitive Edition.
GBC emulation on GBA is okay but there are graphical glitches and slowdowns in a number of popular games. You really want to get a dedicated GB flashcart. It's a good thing there are many good options for GB flashcarts, then.
If you are emulating GBC games, make sure you know about jagoomba color. It breaks a few games but fixes more.

Both the high end GBA flashcarts (Everdrive and EZ Omega) use the goomba emulator for GB/GBC, and I'll be honest, it's let me down a bunch of times. Just like shit like music cutting out, things like that.
So eventually I just bought a completely separate flashcart for GB/GBC.

>> No.9222939

Absolute worst? I couldn't even get Super Mario Land 2 to run for some reason, no idea why
I mean my advice would be, if youre gonna get a GBA flashcart then just try to use goomba and if youre happy as can be, great. If it's frustrating you, well then at least you know for sure.

Don’t use Everdrives to play anything than the console they’re supposed to be used with. They’re perfect for that but GB emulation on GBA and NES emulation on 64 feels like emulating on a phone in 2007. Just buy the separate cart and swap it out as you need to. Compared to owning hundreds of carts it’s not an inconvenience.

>> No.9223059

I havent tried it myself but NES emulation on the 64 is actually ffpga with the latest firmware which is really impressive. However I still wouldn't call it ideal since it still applies the N64's hardware anti-aliasing over everything.

Honestly, I don't even have that many games I want to play on the Sega CD. Can probably list about 5 tops. The attachment isn't cheap either from what I've gathered either, so there's that as well.

I'm stalking their Twitter accounts for news of a new drop, so we'll see.

I definitely want to try Snatcher and Flashback, at least. I did consider Lunar 1 and 2 but I think I'd prefer the PlayStation versions anyway.

3 games certainly isn't worth the investment. I have a working MCD so burning games I don't own is my best option.
Hell if you're going to emulate even a N3DS is a pretty good system to play those.

I’d hardly call it emulation, majority of the work is still done on the original hardware, the CD drive does an extra layer and is able to translate the discs data

I ordered one a month ago and it's been in Kiev of all places for 3 weeks. Should I be worried bros?

what a coincidence i find this thread, ive run into the same issue recently. wanted to play GBC games on my GBA ED but it wouldnt save for the life of it. asked around everywhere trying to find some awnsers, none. i gave in in the end and just bought the GBC ED as well, in part because i heard the goomba emulator isnt really good anyways. if you do decide to buy a separate GB flashcart you should look into the microsd cards it supports. the GBC ED doesnt support sandisk for whatever reason, even though pretty much every other does. had to get a different brand just for that

Is it worth shilling out an extra $30-40 for a Ez Flash Junior for my GBC? Or should I just get one of those cheap flashcarts off Aliexpress.
I dont need RTC or any fancy features outside of saves

I paid less than 30€ for my EZ Flash Jr a mere 2 years ago, I just checked and it's fucking crazy how it's double the price now.

I'm glad I got my EZ Flashes when I did. Now I have to get Everdrives too.

>>9242835
Both carts are cheap enough that you shouldn't really be splitting hairs over price.
EZ Flash Jr loads games instantly which is a big perk - Everdrive GB clones take a couple minutes to switch games. But the EZ Flash Jr can be a bit buggy, apparently some GBCs don't support it. Also, both carts are battery hungry.
If you can afford to get an official Everdrive then do that instead. Otherwise, just ask whether you want the hassle of potentially having to return it.

oooh nooo
yea upgrading is a no-no on bootlegs. GDEMU is another infamous example. You just have to pray the flash memory or chink FPGA doesn't go out and never update them. were you trying to get new features with the OS update?

As far as i know there's no easy recovery process other than maybe chip swapping some parts. You're better off buying another chink clone.
