What exactly *is* the Grand Master Challenge?

Playing Tetris but you can't see the pieces.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, just another endless update to the game

>endless
It's the fifth version of the game out of six.
(I don't count USF2).
How many patches and DLC updates does an average AAA game get these days?

you gotta remember, it's kick punch kick
but in the end, it's all in the mind
that's true grand master wisdom
now ya gotta show it too, in the game

Capcom challenging themselves to release the same game five times in a row and still have idiots buy it.

>The Grand Master Challenge is Akuma. He is a boss you need to achieve specific conditions to even attempt to face, he is the arcade's modes new "ultimate opponent".

Shen Long aka Gouki aka Akuma

source?

Sorry, I did npt mean to greentext that. It's not from any source, it's just the logical assumption I feel like. ST's biggest new things were supers and Akuma. While not as relevant in the main scene Akuma is probably the most iconic "banned" character in any fighting game.

Is level 4 or level 8 the official challenge?

So you time out to akuma and then it just goes back to the normal ending. Why did you delete this post?

The CPU kicking your ass. SSF2X is really hungry for coins compared to SFII:WW or all the SFIIIs.

Finding the machine to begin with. By the time it came out, everybody was sick of SF2 and were demanding 3, and most arcades just stuck with Turbo.

They still can't get sf2 right but 3 and the newer ones are hyped garbage.

SF2 is probably the most overjoyed garbage game in existence. It can't hold a candle to its SNK contemporaries

US: Super Street Fighter II Turbo
JP: Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge
DC: Super Street Fighter II X for Matching Service

the final competitive version:
Hyper Street Fighter II

as opposed to
US: Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
JP: Street Fighter II ' Turbo

If SNK games of the time were superior then why don't you see strong interest in Samurai Spirits 2 or KOF 94 tournaments these days?

You wanna know where I found a SSF2T machine in the 90s when it was new? A 7-11 that my dad briefly went into for a pack of cigarettes. I recall seeing the opening demo with Ryu getting ready as Chun-Li and Cammy struck a pose and it stuck with me ever since. However, I didn't know about there being a vanilla Super SF2 to begin with then (since my known arcades only had Turbo) and so I never knew at the time that this was specifically the Super Turbo version I had found.

Nope, but ST2 is pretty dope.

In Japan they sent back the tens of thousands of CPS1 boards and 2X was vastly preferred over Super on CPS2.
2X is the default SF2 you find in Japan and basically every single arcade with a retro section has at least two machines.

Street Fighter fatigue never really happened in Japan (Virtua Fighter just took away the lead) and if you go back and read reviews in magazines at the time or anecdotes on social media from Japanese people there was just as much excitement or more for 2X than any other release.

>> No.9223098

>>9223065
In Japan, I can see that, but reviews I read for Super SF2 in the US were pretty much "Again? Can't we move on already?", which is likely why Super Turbo went ignored and with no console port.
