Yeah could use a few Metroid Prime clones cause these games were goated and no shit I don't mind the motion controls on it. Played the originals on Gamecube back in the day and replaying this now so had to get used to the controls.

Use the Prime Hack of Dolphin to play Metroid Prime Trilogy with a keyboard and mouse

I've never played the prime series and I have awii, would you recommend the gc or wii version?

A lot of Acclaim's games on N64 are kind of carrying that Metroid Prime DNA, which isn't too surprising, since it was Iguana employees who formed Retro Studios. Turok 2 in particular is really interesting to look at, if you take it as a kind of Metroid Prime 0.5.
There's also Armorines: Project Swarm, and I don't know if anyone who went on to work at Retro worked on that, but at the very least, I think they borrowed a few ideas. It's got the alien bugs, and the blue sci-fi HUD, and the thermal visor.

Basically the only thing you lose out from the trilogy is the game's individual main menu screens. MP1/2 are the same with new controls, but they support the gamecube controller still.

Outside of collecting purposes it really doesn't matter.

It was pretty unique at the time, some come somewhat close but there aren’t many that feel like prime does
Try some immersive sims on PC, you might like them

Honestly, Nehrim for Oblivion / Enderal for Skyrim are some of the most Prime-ish senses of exploration and discovery I can remember. Combat is still shit, but surprisingly that didn't matter that much to me.

the graphics are better on gamecube, the wii somehow couldn't do some of the particle effects and shaders

do the original if only to play with that intuitive control scheme that defies 'modern standards'

idk anon I replayed prime 1 recently and the chozo artifact backtracking sucks dick, also prime 2 gets tedious and boring AF I got to the Bog temple or w/e and havent reloaded dolphin since.

I enjoyed Dread though and really wanna hear what the new team is doing with Prime 4

I got the opposite reaction in a recent replay. The first time I've played I just hated all the artifact quest and almost dropped the game. This time I enjoyed it a lot and even started playing on hard immediately after beating it.
