New Horizons is insane for its time. Six protagonists, each with their own storyline that intersects with other characters and a world map that is an actual map of he world. And you have the freedom to play how you want with story beats being activated by your progression in certain Fame categories. I just wish the port NPCs had a little more personality.

I think alot of it was a matter of making it work on SNES. Also Koei games of the era were filled with numbers and stats not so much graphics.

Yes, it is fun. You can set up trade routes or go off pirating. But each character has a story so there is a preferred path.
