Do you still use it in 2022?

Yes because Mario RPG and FFVI didn't get a euro release

Never got to own one because of the scalping surrounding Nintendo's mini consoles. I'd really love to have at least one of the controllers to use on the Wii and Gamecube, but even the shit condition ones are pricey given what they are. Pic related is lopsided because the guy forcibly pried it open.

You can find one with 2 controllers for 70€

Not to me. Been seeing ton at Best Buy.

don't real SNES have problem with CPU failure?

>> No.9205876

>>9205769
I thought that was mostly an issue with US models and SFC and PAL SNES did not have the problem.

No excuse. The NES got a rerun, and the SNES was easy to get.
They put out way more because people got butthurt about how quickly the NES sold out initially.

>> No.9205984

I have heard that however it's also a question as to whether it's actually CPU failures and not something else like broken traces. The reason I say that is because the eject lever on the SNES is a pretty poor design and it flexes the PCB when used which may crack traces.

Yeah, I still use mine to play romhacks and fan translations.

I believe actually fried chips would be hot to the touch? That should be a good way of determining if the CPU is at fault.

it's not that i don't like the product or that i was bored of it. it's that feeling of dread that comes from cherishing or valuing something that can very easily be lost - so you subconsciously distance yourself.
as a kid, when they discontinued products, a few years afterward i thought it would be cool if they would remake them again (the naivete of a child and business practices) in full swing.
these little classics consoles coming back to store shelves, albeit for a limited time, was a refreshing experience for a change after roughly 20 years.
but looking at the way life is, it doesn't matter anymore.

>> No.9206141

>>9205984
I'm positive it's the shit power filtering on US models because it doesn't appear that SFC or PAL SNES have that issue.

I found a loose controller for like 10$ that I use for Wii VC, it's pretty nice. I wish there was an N64 version.

What the fuck are you talking about. How do you just lose a console that you have hooked up?

jesus christ
i just realized its the mini
i collect them but i dont recommend it
there are better cheaper emulation options available

its kinda neat if you can get one at MSRP
i have the complete retail library but it clunks titles in to folders of 30-40
so i close my eyes
scroll randomly and play titles from within that folder randonauting

ive found some cool titles like this
but i will admit its kinda autistic

>>9206695
Yes. The better question is do those chips get hot when running (I mean like scalding hot so you can't put your finger on it)? if not they may not actually be dead and the problem could be something else like a broken trace.

>> No.9206782

>>9206716
yeah it was mentioned that the eject lever flexes the PCB and might break traces. it's hard to say though.

if you've never been homeless before, been poor and subject to the fuckery of shitbag landlords to where you have to scrounge up cash by any means necessary, or have served a lengthy sentence,
losing everything,
you wouldn't understand.
it doesn't take much for things to go wrong, and when it does, everything is taken from you.
it doesn't matter if you manage to rebound, everything going forward is laced with cynicism because you know how little it takes for it all to slip through your fingers and that your perceived achievements, possessions, and existence are just for show - redundantly temporary.

fuck man, sorry to hear about what you've had to go through.

>> No.9207589

I was using it until last sunday I accidentally loaded a state instead of saving and it overwrote the savegame for Super mario World.

I ended giving up and restarting on Retroarch with a 8bitdo snes gamepad (the old shameless snes clone before they changed the design).

I just ordered an OSSC, so the mini is problably being relegated to the status of display piece. Real hardware RGB Snes + Snes Powerpak, and I will probably get one of those 8bitdo gamepad adapters, or maybe some membrane replacements. for the snes gamepads

Still, I like the little device, and I would probably bring it with me on a trip. Still better than the Switch Virtual Crapsole
