It's her hair I hate most of all. Looks like some dumb animu shit. I know her whole modern style, including the hair and Zero Suit, originated in Zero Mission, but even there it was fine because the game's art had something of a stylized look, and there was no indication it would become her de facto standardized look from there on out. And it just kept getting dumber. She gained high-heels and a mole in Other M, and made the high-heels into something of a fighting accessory in Smash 4 and Ultimate for some retarded reason. I'm just glad Dread didn't do anything more to fuck up her look.

I think you might be underinformed on this topic. Samus's design has been almost completely consistent since Fusion in 2002 (pic), and the hair has been the same since Super Metroid back in 1994.
The only thing Zero Mission introduced was the Zero Suit. And you can't really complain that that's her default look in Smash when the name on the character select screen is "Zero Suit Samus".
Samus has looked the same way out of her suit for twenty years now.
I understand that some people really dislike the idea of her being a gorgeous blonde woman and want her to be more statuesque like she was in the Super Metroid Player's Guide, but that was one piece of concept art published in an American guide 28 years ago. Expecting Japanese developers to prioritize that over what's actually in the goddamn games is a dumb hill to die on.

I never said I prefer the Big McLarge Huge Samus from the Player Guide or that I take issue with Samus being a gorgeous blonde. I am specifically referring to THIS hair style in particular, with two large strands of hair to the side (sometimes they're rendered as sideburns, which does look a bit better at least) and bangs combed to one side completely covering her forehead. I just think it looks overstylized and dumb, and much preferred when it was either completely loose or in a simple ponytail.

I felt the same way. I always considered her zero mission look a prequel/past look and the fusion look her current one, and I adored the Fusion ending design. The hair swept over the eye, long trailing hair, tall proportions(regardless of her out-of-suit measurements, she LOOKS tall) This being the first time we got a modern, rendered image of Samus from Nintendo Japan, it immediately sealed itself as Samus' iconic image to me.

So to see it buried under synergy with Zero Mission's design was disappointing to me. Especially since overtime her post-ZM era look has become closer to it. To me, the hair looks like it denotes a cuter, younger anime character, not a much more experienced hunter.
