What is the state of Saturn emulation in 2022? I'm looking to run Saturn games on a handheld of some kind, preferably Nintendo Switch. Last time I tried Mednafen on PC it had noticeable input lag over real hardware and I couldn't figure out a way to increase the rendering resolution. SF and Yabause are dogshit.

Emulation has lag, glitches in everyway and some games don't work at all. Buy a Saturn anon if you truly want to experience the system and buy good cheap games like Sega Rally panzer Dragoon and radiant silvergun.

Yeah I already have a real Saturn which is why I think I'm more used to emulator fuckups than most emulatorfags are.

Have had barely any issues with Mednafen

>> No.9184626

Using Mednafen Saturn emulation is pretty good. The only thing is that Saturn emulation WILL always have a bit of input lag, apparently it's inherent to how the Saturn works but while it's not noticeable on real hardware, it will be emulated due to all the other things that go with emulation. There are ways to mitigate it though if you have a proper setup and know how to configure it properly, but say, playing Resident Evil PSX in Mednafen then playing Resident Evil Saturn on Mednafen, I will notice a very slight difference.

>> No.9184627

If you emulate, you aren't getting the true Saturn experience. Same if you play backups. You HAVE to buy the original game, no matter the cost.

the full experience of the TOUCH and SMELL of plastic also consumarism: paying for something = enjoying that thing more than if you had it for free.

This is the way!

>you look at your shelf, with physical representations of your games on display, helping you to decide what to play today
>you take the case and look at the back cover, understanding which would be the ideal peripheral to use with this interactive experience
>you open the case and review the video game manual to familiarise yourself with the games systems and controls
>you give the case a good sniff to remind you of great days gone by, lazy Sundays playing vidya when you had no cares in the world
>you remove the disc from the case and place it in your original Sega Saturn
>you press the power button and see/hear the timless start-up cinematic
>THIS IS COOL™

backups give you none of this and you don't appreciate the games.

I have a bunch of real games
I prefer to use my saturn with fenrir plus a multicart for saves and RAM
I don't see any benefit in collecting games as I already have a heap from my childhood

>boot RA
>start game
>load save state to skip the boring loading screens
Takes about 20 seconds. I even have all my peripherals working, thanks to some guy on github who added support for my Arcade Racer to his arduino based USB adapter.

Only time I pull the Saturn out is if I want to play some of the exclusive light gun titles, which aren't very good anyway.

That's bullshit, but the switch isn't powerful enough to run any decent saturn emu.

All Saturn games are rare anon. I’m well traveled and I’ve only seen them a couple times in the wild. Buy Japanese copies on the cheap cheap while you can

Retroid Pocket 2 should get the job done, but if you're looking for 100% hardware/cycle accuracy, you're going to be disappointed no matter what

Also say what you want about Yabause but I've been using the Android version for the past year and it works great for me.
