This game has everything. It's on the SNES, looks awesome, plays in that Zelda 2 style I dig so much, you play as a cute girl, has a decent length and difficulty but it's not "nintendo hard," got some sweet metroidvania elements. Awesome game.

I can't pick 1. I hated zelda 2 when I was a kid because I had no idea what to do but once I got older sat down and figured it out I fell in love by the first the dungeon. MvC is just so perfectly balanced because it doesnt go overboard with stupid characters. Doom is just awesome and I spent many hours of my life deathmatching and playing custom wads. Castlevania is just a classic nintendo adventure with an awesome soundtrack. Blazing Lazers was also one of my favorites as a kid and holds up to this day as well.

i was big into megaman when i was in my teens during jr high school but i was too casual so i never got around to finish them (i only used the mega buster because i thought using the weapons you got was cheap) however i was charmed by everything about megaman and i spent so many days making my friends get into megaman and playing it with them, even if we never could beat them we always had a lot of fun playing it

many years later after finishing my first year of college i buckled down and passed the ones i had bought for my virtual console (1, 2, 3 and 9)
and just after finishing them all i felt really depressed because of all the memories of my jr high school friends, the megaman 2 ending credits are just so sad but powerful they really get to you

Favorite retro game is Doom, always will be. I haven't played it more than a few hours in many years but I still can't call any game better than it.

It is an eternal lesson in how good coding, simple design elements combining in many unexpected ways, a clean interface and a fast load time, and lots of stolen metal music all contribute towards perfection.
