ITT: That one item you're dying to get in your collection

For those who don't know, Sony released a special version of the Playstation console back in 1997 called the Net Yaroze. It was made for amateur developers that wanted to code, write and create their own games. It's a pretty rare console due to the fact that it was so expensive back in the day and it was only available via mail order. It's also sought after for the fact it has a different color scheme than the regular Playstation and it's region free.

>> No.913754

I remember some of the demo discs had Net Yaroze games on them. They were often simple, but pretty good. I liked them because there were usually more games on those discs than the regular demo discs.

Yeah, it was mentioned in last months Retro Gamer. Apparently a Finnish guy visiting his fiancee in CZ found a shop selling them and bought two. Upon being unable to find more information on "The Smurfs Travel the World" - he realised that it was actually quite rare, and asked his fiancee, to go buy more copies. She found roughly 8. Following this, he asked his brother to find more copies, as he had sold/donated/traded on all but two. His brother actually found around 20, but half were in a poor condition, so he left them.

Incidentally, there might be more copies in stranger places. One copy went for sale on Ebay Germany that had never passed through Mikko's hands. Like most things of this nature, another load will probably turn up in a storage auction.

I played Earthbound on the SNES, loved it and was surprised it wasn't much more successful.

I played Mother 1 (or "Earthbound Zero") on NESticle when the rom was dumped, and on a flashcart on the Mother 3 tranny.

I won't even go into the subjective definition of what determines when you are "wasting" money.
But if he doesn't have any obligations that he is shirking by not spending that 3000 on them and spending it on videogames, then who the fuck is to say he is "wasting" it?

Also, lottery money wasn't earned anyway, it was "won", so technically any use that he puts the 3000 towards that increases his enjoyment of life utility isn't wasted (again, as long as not shirking responsibilities he has to pay off).

So, I can't decide which is stupider - when you should be saying "more stupid" anyway - the fact that you
1) are ridiculing someone for spending money on videogames...while in a videogame forum, or
2) the fact you're not taking into account he spent it on SNES, which is the greatest fucking console ever.

CIBs of my favorite N64 games: Perfect Dark, Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64.

A working copy of Hey You Pikachu! with the microphone would be cool but I won't go out of my way to drop cash on a novelty attached to a mediocre (from what I've heard) game.

Does anybody have a copy of that one train simulator game? According to Wikipedia it was the only other game to use the N64 microphone and it also had a special controller.

For me it was 1 month's worth on top of expenses, at my first real job out of school ~10 years ago.

>It's not much.
Like I said about money earned vs. money won...I bought my games sure, but I never underestimated what else I could do with that money. When you treat money as cheap and easy, the value you place in everything you buy with it is diminished as well.

My collection stands in the high five figures as of the last time I evaluated it ~7 years ago, and $3000 still isn't anything to toss around to me.

Well, Majora's mask isn't incredibly plentiful, though it does command a pretty high price relative to other mass produced carts. Usually never under thirty dollars alone. But, it's a great game, so it's pretty fair. But Dobutsu No Mori is basically import only. And in Japanese. It's just a Japanese Animal Crossing on the N64. Literally the same game. Cool for novelty, though not very practical. Unless you know Japanese.

AES sets are FUCK EASY TO FIND. eBay, look for sellers in Japan. Do NOT use the AC adapter that comes with the system. If you get a 10V AC adapter, use a US Sega Genesis 1 9V AC adapter. Works perfectly, and is MUCH better for the system than the 12V that 10V adapter would spit out.

I got my Lunar 2 through a series of BAD EVENTS and PEOPLE GETTING SHOT AND HOSPITALIZED FOR DRUG ABUSE. Not the path I recommend for Sega CD fun times. Just get it from the ISO zone and burn it. Never pay more than original retail price for optical media.

I keep feeling dismayed that there are so many CD games I can't get, but I then remember that I can simply burn them and that's good enough for me.
