Let's talk about actual good wrestling games instead of games for marks like akishite

Why was Kevin Nash left off the roster for WrestleMania The Arcade Game despite being WWF champion champion for almost the entire year of it's release?

This game was straight up broken & awful in every aspect.

Games had a long development time back in the day. By the time a wrestling game came out it was almost always dated to the previous year (see WCW Revenge and how the intro seems to be based on the Hogan V Sting feud of 97 when the actual release was mid 98). Diesel was probably still just Michaels' jobber bodyguard when they started on the game, his push to main eventer was incredibly quick compared to other champions of the time.
Adam Bomb was motion capped to be in the game but was left out.

Are there any good wrestling games on OG Xbox? Just modded mine and never played many on it back in the day except for Legends of Wrestling which was awful.

Backyard Wrestling 2 is shit shovelwwre, but has the best licensed OST of it's era. You got Lamb of God, KRS-1, Hoobastank, Andrew WK, Saliva, Kool Keith. Shits nice. They spent all budget on the OST.

Other than that you don't have many options besides WWE Raw 1/2. The Xbox is really lacking in wrasslin games, while the PS2 had dozens due to jap dev support

RAW 2, and that's it. It's the only wrestling game on the console that supports 6 wrestlers in the ring at once and the gameplay isn't bad.

>> No.9129343

are Acclaim wrestling games still worth revisiting?
Used to play War Zone 64 all the time back then.

They're pretty crappy man. I had War Zone as a kid. I remember it was extremely finicky when trying to toss enemies over the ropes for battle royales. And the finishers had like weird Mortal Kombat inputs

I remember Backyard Wrestling kind of coasting on the pornstar characters and violence. Pretty cool soundtrack though!
I guess I'll stick to N64 and PS2 for rasslin'.

WM2000 is better than No Mercy... or it would be for the Season Mode but the difficulty in both WM2000 and No Mercy is sweaty tryhard bullshit

Not really related, but a good trivia point is that you could play as Crow Sting in WCW vs. The World months and months before he actually returned to the ring
>>9131834
Oh here it is. Personally I couldn't git gud at this game but it's pretty much the direct prequel to WCW vs. nWo World Tour so it's probably worth doing so. This game had a MASSIVE roster for the time too even if 70% of the wrestlers were under fake names. Well, even faker names.

Is this the one where you could leave the ring and fight in the back rooms? I remember cooping with a friend and 2v2 the computer on hardest difficulty and it was a lot of fun. We would go through "cycles" where the comp would smack us hard and it would be hell, but then we would inevitably come back and start destroying them before starting the cycle over again.

Royal Rumble and RAW are the first TRUE beginnings of good wrestling games in the West.

Characters with unique finishing moves, different ring in, ring out mechanics. Royal Rumble created it, RAW refined it.
