What is the rarest/most expensive game in your collection? Are you happy with your purchase of it or have you had it since childhood?

I just got this today, super happy and ordered a case to protect it

That's a nice purchase, anon. Thank you for reminding me I need to snag a cheap, used copy of Subsistence as well. I have a few copies of 3 between the PS2 1-3 box set, HD versions and whatnot but not a normal, two disc copy of Subsistence, and I want to play the MSX games.

Nothing to do with what OP is asking, but...
>still rocking the PS1 in 2005 since broke
>big fan of Metal Gear and MGS
>keep hearing everyone talking about MGS3 and how awesome it is
>come 2006 and Subsistence comes out with Metal Gear Online
>been loving Delta Force Black Hawk Down on PC, would fucking love to play this
>finally get a PS2 in July 2007 since prices finally dropped to $200 IIRC
>get a Tony Hawk game and MGS3 Subsistence
>pop the online disc in for Subsistence
>server is no longer online
>go online to do some troubleshooting
>"Dude, the entire game service was shut down back in April, you can't play anymore."
>never got a chance to play MGO

But back to the topic, rarest stuff I have would be my unique console controllers, and they aren't all that rare. SNES Mouse, PS1 Mouse, DC Keyboard, DC Mouse, and DC Fishing Controller. The SNES is a leftover from my late teens when I got it for free long before I had any use for it, the rest were all buys I'm happy with, with the possible exception of the DC mouse and keyboard. Most games that support alternative controllers are usually improved by them. The fishing controller and Sega Marine Fishing makes my DC popular with even the most casual of casuals. The SNES mouse is great in PC port games like Civilization and Eye of the Beholder, and makes King Arthur's World far more playable(there's also hacks adding mouse support to Clock Tower, Star Fox, and Shadowrun). The PS1 mouse is a must-have for the graphical adventure and RTS ports, and makes a fantastic alternative to playing the light-gun-shuffle for shooting games. The DC mouse and keyboard makes playing the few FPS PC ports a lot more like playing on the PC, but as well done as they were they are still inferior compared to the PC originals. If I played PSO online, did DC dev, or tried to use my DC as a web browser, it might come in more handy, but I don't so they mostly collect dust.

Pokemon Box. My parents bought it for me on pokemoncenter.com near the end of when it was still available there, just after the Pokemon Center in New York had become Nintendo World and stopped selling it. Decades later I saw what it was going for on eBay and was surprised how expensive it eas.

Also, my dad has Snatcher for the Sega CD, he only still has the disc, though.

Gamecube has my most expensive shit:

>Chibi Robo
>Four Swords Adventures PAL copy
>Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
>Mario Party 7 (had no clue this was expensive)
>Wind Waker with the OOT disc
>Zelda Collector's Edition

All bought back in the day when they were new or cheap. Only GC game I've ever bought past 2007 was Viewtiful Joe.

Got a few expensive GBA carts too with their manuals but no box. Minish Cap, Zero Mission, Pokemon games etc. Not /vr/ but I've got Okamiden, Chrono Trigger, MegaMan Battle Network 5 and a bunch of other pricey shit. Again, all bought back in the day just because I liked the look of them in a magazine.

I think the rarest game I have is Cosmology of Kyoto, the 3.1 version. I got it from my old University library when they were getting ready to dump a bunch of old stuff, along with a ton of books and Criterion DVDs. It's come up on Ebay maybe two or three times in the last five years. Besides that, I think the hardest to get, at least in America, is Despiria, which I found in a lot with a bunch of J-league sports games for $20 or so.
Besides that, I have a pretty nice collection of "games that weren't expensive when I bought them but have shot up since" -- Illbleed, D2, all the Silent Hills, the Xbox Fatal Frames, lots of Godzilla games, Trespasser. I'm sure there's some other stuff I'm either forgetting or I don't know has shot up.

It’s just gonna sit there and slowly rot on your shelf because you can’t even use it for its intended purpose. Probably one of my loose SNES games, Chrono Trigger or Super Metroid maybe? I have a complete Skies of Arcadia Legends my friend gave me long ago when he decided to move on from the Gamecube to the Wii and downsized his extensive collection. Apparently God Hand is pretty valuable and rare now. Non-retro would probably be my complete Neptunia Vita collection or my sealed, release copies of Etrian Odyssey 4, 5, Nexus, Untold 2 and Mystery Dungeon. Also SMT IV Apocalypse sealed.

This game, Kowai Shashin.
It's an interesting collection piece since it's the subject of a creepypasta story that circulates on 2ch and such.
The game is about exorcising ghost photos but supposedly the staff used "real" ghost photos when making it and hence the game is supposed to be cursed, the director of the game killed himself, you should never play it, etc.

Probably the rarest I have Is a sealed copy of Haunting Ground that I got for less than 100$. I'm happy with the purchase but It's also my first retro sealed game ever and I didn't want to open it, so I still replayed the game using my old pirated copy.

After that I guess my GameCube collection, which I started more than 6 years ago so I bought them at good prices (the best for me was RE4 for 15$). I managed to get my copy of Killer7 signed by Suda and RE4 and REmake signed from Mikami and those are my most valuable ones since I love those games.

>> No.9127308

>>9127225
I've finished it. Haven't died from any curses as of yet.

The story is kind of interesting. Nothing revolutionary, but still engaging enough.
The gameplay isn't terrible, but it's extremely rudimentary so much so that it feels like an indie game (and one made by someone who didn't know much about making games). If anything, it's kind of impressive how they made a conceptually unique game under the restraints of clearly not having any money or resources for making a game.

Now, here's were I tell you what's wrong with the game:
It's too hard- like, 'did they even playtest this?' hard.

When I'm not playing horror games I play fighting games and I'm pretty good at them- usually have a +70% win/loss record in any game I play. I'm telling you this so you understand I don't have sub-human reaction times to give context to why Kowai Shashin is so hard:
The more the game goes on the less time you have to hit a button in response to the ghosts appearing (which you must do to not die) and it gets to the point were I would question if it's even humanly possible to react fast enough.
Unless you have super-human reflexes, I would abandon all hopes of reaching the end of the game without cheating.

Fortunately, cheating is very easy.
Just hammer the start button on every frame that you think a ghost will appear on to pause the game and see what type of ghost it is so that you can respond with the correct button press the moment after unpausing the game.

In conclusion, I'd only recommend playing it if you are of a very patient and forgiving nature.

NONE of these games are rare. I repeat, NONE of them. Just because there's some sort of hype/bubble going on because of nostalgia doesn't mean a game is rare. Best exemple is Hyper Duel on Saturn. No one watns to play this game and there have been the same dozens f auction up for YEARS on eBay no one buy but the price keep getting up bc of speculation. So dude have been trying to sell his sealed copy for 10+ years that's ridiculous. No one buys it yet he keeps pumping up the price. Most expensive: CIB Super Mario Bros. 1
Rarest: CIB Starblade Alpha for PS1

I’m happy with both of these. I’ve wanted a complete copy of mario 1 since I was young and as for starblade, I like collecting namco’s PS1 titles.
