Can't remember anything particularly traumatic, but I guess I really hated chocking hands in Blood, especially before learning that you can, in fact, throw them off.
Played it when I was around 4-5 years old btw.

I'm 30 also but by the time the Gamecube was in its last days and Wii was out I was a teenager. I'd consider the fifth gen and fourth/fifth drippings more of my childhood, by sixth gen I was reading reviews for games and watching more "Adult" media and generally not acting like a kid anymore. When people say Childhood I think 3-11, not 12-17.

Video games, less likely for teenagers, but still possible I guess. By “trauma” I assumed OP meant things that freaked you out or made you uncomfortable.

I’m almost 30 but the giant squids and the weird tree on pawprint isle from wind waker freaked me out when I played it as a kid. Looking back, I can still remember those feelings.

I’m wracking my brain and can’t really think of anything scary enough to really call traumatic. I didn’t really have free reign to play M-rated games until I was around 13 so I think I missed most of the opportunities for genuine trauma.
Closest thing I can think of it when I begged my parents to let me try their copy of RE4 when I was around nine. The music and all the Spanish I couldn’t understand was too freaky and stressful for me to deal with at the time. I didn’t actually play RE4 until like last year.

I love that their reaction to Abe attempting to escape is to immediately set people to painting an anti-escape billboard in this random area, yet despite that confidence that he'll escape from exactly this spot they don't quadruple the guard count.
It did make me feel bad as a kid, because they design the area well. Unless you are already skilled at the game (i.e. not your first playthrough), you are only going to rescue like half of the workers, so they guilt trip you right from the start. Not enough games make the player feel guilty for playing naturally (yes, I know about Spec Ops).

Sure thing, everyone likes to larp as the tough guy when it suits them. What most people forget is that all it takes to kill anyone instantly is a random stray bullet to just hit you in the wrong place, you don't even have to be a target of anything.
Now you think you're prepared for anything, but you will come to this realization if you ever find yourself in the heat of a battlefield with bullets flying all around and anything could be rigged to kill you like the pathetic government pawn you are, then you won't be so brave.
Even if and manage to survive you will remember all the people you killed and the people you could have saved, you will remember your cowardice and arrogance, and you will know that you are a pathetic and limited being regardless of how tough you are or will ever get, and you will live in pain for the rest of your miserable life.

Drop the act, it'll pad the impact of the great fall we call life.

Also, age of (automatic) emancipation is 21 in some states. US immigration policy considers under 21 a child. The age of majority in some places historically was as high as 30. Maybe taking the law literally as a place to draw the line between childhood and non-childhood is actually absurd and retarded. Childhood is traditionally considered to end with the onset of puberty, and adolescence often continues past legal adulthood and into your late twenties/early thirties.

Maybe 15 year old you was still soiling his sheets from playing the Wind Waker, the rest were busy with high school life or working their first jobs.

I completely get a jump scare from a game, even a cartoony one. But trauma as a word is so overused.
