What makes cartoon women drop everything and engage you in acts of gambling as soon as you pull out a mahjong set in video games?

In Puyo Puyo you're just some little girl running around meeting people who challenge you who cam be the best at dropping slimes into a box. It's just gameplay mechanics. In some worlds all disputes are solved by playing *game* that everyone carries around with them at all times.

Anime women instinctually desire to be defeated and conquered by strong men. Mahjong provides a safe, healthy outlet for their submissive tendencies.
This is the same reason why in the Tag Force games Tenjouin Asuka will duel you the fifty-seventh time in a row despite having lost the last fifty-six consecutive duels. She's secretly getting off on it.

My headcanon is that it's just some weird alternative world where everybody is obsessed with a certain type of competition. Like in Pokemon or Medarot or whatever.

Sonic Battle was also a good example, everybody just being passive aggressive dicks, ready to unleash their fury on the opponent the second they'll have a reason

Mahjong is just an excuse for anime women to have sex with you. They're all horny bitches and they want to be impressed with your long long mahjongson

The Super Real Mahjong games sometimes retained some characters between iterations. They do enhance the gameplay with snappier UI and tile selection over time. I have a strong suspicion the computer cheats and manipulates the tile setup. I guess that's why the SuchiePai games are a bit more fair since they allow for the player to cheat back.

I'll more often miss days or even weeks in a row due to the random shifts everywhere. The board moves so fast now. It is just cool that others also enjoy the games I like too.

No amount of beautiful anime women would make me want to play Mahjong. Only barely sufferable platform and adventure games can do that for me.

Mahjong is a lot of fun.
It's a bitch and a half to learn, because to play you have to memorize the yaku and there are over 40 of them in total, each with their own rules and interactions with each other.
Once you get over that hump and start to get into strategy, it's a fucking blast. It's a pure challenge of skill and luck, and every single hand has the potential to become a story you'll remember for a lifetime.
All that, AND you can use it to make anime girls take off their clothes. Now that's a fucking game.

Look, if I ever slum it up with old crusty Asian guys (which is probable when my twilight years strike) maybe I'll play but I don't think anime girls whose designs would've been great in an action or fighting game are incentive enough to start just yet.

About the yaku, you're usually good to go with the low value, frequent ones. Besides in games with items that grant you great starting hands, I wonder how frequently someone can pull an All green or a Big four winds.
>All that, AND you can use it to make anime girls take off their clothes. Now that's a fucking game.
For sure.

You can absolutely start playing even if all you know is Riichi, Tanyao, and the basic rules. But if you do that you'll just be scraping the surface of what makes Mahjong great.
In my mind the game only really gets fun when you finally have a good grasp of all of your options and can start to craft clever plans and make daring escapes.
Even obscure darkweb yaku like Nagashi Mangan can be major additions to your arsenal because you can make them happen in situations where normal strategies stop working.

So what is a good game to start with? Anything on the SNES/Super Famicom? Bishoujo Janshi Suchie-Pai?
>If I'm going to learn and struggle with my inability to understand moon, there'd better be some anime girls to provide some motivation
