Funny enough while Nintendo Power quietly ignored every detail of the Phillips/Nintendo partnership outside of its initial announcement, other magazines did cover the cdi. Even this issue, though, they try to downplay bringing attention to the CDi games.

The news of Pokémon's enormous success continues to seep into various obscure corners of the entertainment world, I guess. I never would have expected to see "Scholastic presents" atop a Game Boy box.

Also, having learned from Google Images that there was an Animorph who turned into a starfish, I'm suddenly somewhat interested in actually reading one or two of these books. Maybe they are hilariously kitschy in some way? I mean, what the hell does a starfish do? She looks like one of the joke heroes from The Tick.

In Gen1, not at all. Gen2 knocks them down a tiny bit with Dark-types being introduced, but there's still not much that can stop them since Dark was pretty badly distributed out the gate.

Do they let you retry major battles though? Or is the feature inactive in hostile indoor areas? If it just lets you skip some repetitive walking on the world map then it's not a huge change I suppose, but quicksaving in a dungeon could greatly decrease difficulty. Or maybe not, since this game barely has boss characters anyway, as I am suddenly remembering? Hmm. Oh well.
