You have no idea what you are talking about. VP9 uses a better form of image partitioning that can more efficiently dedicate data to areas that need information. Partially static content is an excellent showcase of this and other optimizations.
Here is VP8, compare to >>9074485

Checking out Front Mission Alternative because the concept seemed neat but the gameplay is like prime psx jank that hasn't aged well. It's a real time tactics game but you have minimal control over your units and the AI both on your units and the enemy is utterly retarded.

It can be weirdly satisfying to watch the retards hop around and destroy their targets or get destroyed themself. Apparently the pilots unlock more maneuvers for their AI as the game goes on so it might get a bit more interesting.

encoding vp9 takes forever, right? it's not just me?

>> No.9078552

>>9078515
It takes significantly longer, yes. Though it can be reigned in a bit with the right settings. I rarely do high resolution WebM. For old games recorded at around 640x480 I can reach 10 to 15 fps encoding speed on the 2nd pass if it's a straight conversion without resizing. So that means that if it's a 60 fps video, 1 second of video takes anywhere from 4 to 6 seconds to encode on the second pass alone. First pass is pretty quick by comparison.

Man, they either went all out for waxworks or toned it way down for this release.

Also, that final death looks like jerma, unironically.
